It should be fine, but the fish fry has more cornmeal in it, at least the Louisiana brand does if you look at the list of ingredients. I prefer corn meal in fried seafood.

I like the LA Shrimp fry, but when all I have at the house is just the blue fish fry bag, instead of making a special trip to the store just for that, I’ll add flour to the mix to “soften” it up.

I fry everything in fish fry cut in half with cornmeal. Always used cornmeal based fish fry.

Depending on what I have in the house, I have even used spicy chicken fry to fry shrimp. I wouldn`t do it for guests, but for me and the wife who cares?

You can fry shrimp fine just in regular all purpose flour. That's actually what a lot of places use.

I prefer corn flour "fish fry" for fish and will usually use it on shrimp as well, but regular flour is fine.

Louisiana shrimp fry is the GOAT.
the slim mix with water packages that thickens like a pancake batter.

I mix Louisiana fish fry, flour and corn meal together with some seasonings. I used shrimp fry last week. It was ok.
