I mean, I can dig on some Domenica if you are paying. Same with Shaya. But I ain't dropping bills for cauliflower or unleavened bread.

Had the cauliflower the first time to try it but I do think it is a ripoff.

Thats right up there with $20 shrimp cocktails at various high end restaurants

Yeah man. I'm not paying for the ingredients when I go out to eat, which is almost never. But I can dig on a shrimp cocktail or "char-grilled" oysters. There are some things that just taste better when you spend more money for them. Shrimp taste better in a martini glass for some reason.

My Domenica bill on Friday for 5 people was $546 with tip. It was fricking excellent and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I love both places. Don't care about whether either is overrated. They're both delicious.

At this point, a location in the Quarter would make serious bank.

The chicken liver and oxtail stracci at Domenica might be one of my favorite things.

Agree. It's great. One of the best dishes I've had.

I have an awesome hummus recipe from the Jerusalem cookbook (aside: if you like the food at Shaya, this book should be in your house). It makes hummus that is very comparable to Shaya's.

It takes 2 days and after buying dried chick peas, tahini, lemons, and the rest of the accoutrements, it costs about $15 to make. And I dont have to pay labor, rent, worker's comp, etc...

Did you not order for yourself, did you mean meat metaphrically? Or did you order meat and it not come out with any meat? That woudl be bad.

I just don't understand the complaint. They have meat on their menu.
