Pokie has always been friendly to me. His wife has given me the stink eye a few times though.

I hope Pocorello's is around for a long time.

I used to really like just getting the salad sampler at DeAngelos with grilled chicken. Then one day I called and ordered it for pickup and my bill was something like 15-16 dollars.. WTF? Havent been back since.

Funny you say that. When they had the original DeAngelos by LSU on Burbank (not the one that came after and only served pizza), I ordered a Caesar salad. When I went to pick it up it was $16, so I never went back either.

DeAngelos

I think the Coursey location may have changed names again....Started out as an upscale pizza joint (if there is such a thing) named Mia Tavola, then changed to DeAngelos, now I think it's named something else....Like Rag said, "it is just way way too expensive for what it is" .....It has probably been a year since I've been there.

I haven't been there in a few years, decent food, but they seem to be the worst value in town

Mia Tavola

yep .. when louis deangelo first moved to that spot he was trying to have an upscale, white table cloth italian restaurant .. well, it didn't take him long to figure out this wasn't the part of town to do that .. this all also coincided with johnny and his dad fricking up the franchise deal and he had to buy all of his places back .. so he just turned that one into a deangelo's .. it is still deangelo's, he just has a new sign that looks different now ..

So, if you open a restaurant on Coursey, you forget how to run a restaurant...or is it if you open a restaurant on Coursey, you must not know anything about running a restaurant because if you did, you wouldn't open one on Coursey?

Chimes
Walk-Ons
Pocorello's
Dempsey's
Casa Lavida

all disagree with your statement.

There is room on Coursey for five successful restaurants, I suppose, no more.

You mention Walk-Ons and Chimes...in my mind, I haven't thought much in terms of the Sherwood-to-Airline stretch. There's also Jimmy John's, which does well for what it is. There's also Fernando's which I've only been to once for a drink and chips and queso and they managed to frick up the queso. Haven't been back.

Then there is the other Tex-Mex joint, Los Palmas or whatnot. Bad, bad, bad.

Worse than Casa Lavida?

I'll take Fernando's if given the choice.

I think Capital City Grill has the best French fries in town. Shoestring.

I went to Lavida for the $2 margarita happy hour. Success. Went to Fernando's for chips and queso while my wife and I were planning out open houses. It was a fail.

So I've been back to Lavida, but not Fernando's. What do they say about first impressions? I concede this isn't entirely fair of me, but hey, it's also human nature.

Good call. And my wife just asked me what's for dinner. My answer: "Margaritas!"

Really, and this sounds crazy, but my favorite happy hour frozen margarita in BR is Qdoba. Sad that a fast food Subway-of-Burritos place would be my favorite. But it's not too sweet, not too tart and it packs a perfect punch of tequila...to me a 'rita needs to lean toward being knock-you-on-you-arse strong to have the right taste to it.
