So is Marty Feldman.
I'd post a wink smiley, but I couldn't find one with a lazy eye.

So if Rouse's joins the area with Ralph's, Hi Nabor, Albertson's, Walmart Grocery & Winn Dixie, it'd seem like one of those might die...I like the Winn Dixie, but it seems like them or Hi Nabor would be the odd man out.

Getting back on topic, I dearly miss Ronnie's Ribs. After years of supping on the buffet, I began to branch out onto the regular menu just before she closed shop. Her oxtail with Jamaican sauce and beans was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten.
Also to touch on the subject of mixing religion with business, Ronnie's mom would wait tables in the afternoons and at some point during any meal would mention that you should pray to God everyday. Sometimes she would continue for minutes when all you wanted to do was to eat, but it was forgivable due to the family ownership and Jamaican roots. It almost added to the experience of the restaurant. Anywhere else it would probably bother the flock out of me.
I would trade at least 20 restaurants in SE BR for one Ronnies Ribs.

Agreed, Degas!
I actually gained a taste for Jamaican at a place in Austin that's also now out of business (its South Congress location probably drove its rents too high for what it was).
I was pumped to find a Jamaican place here and very sad to see it close.
I recall it being said that they might do catering...anybody know anything about that?

She said that she would continue on with private catering, and gave her number out to her regulars.

...and for those who are tuning into this thread, who had the best outdoor seating?

Agreed and I miss it too.
Was thinking of her Potato salad the past weekend.
And speaking of the grocery store, Don't forget Alexanders Market on the way for Highland near Blue Bayou. Supposed to be a Whole Food type store

A snack at Thai Chili just now. Chicken and mushroom coconut milk, Thai spring rolls with peanut butter dipping sauce.
ETA: Divorce Court blaring on the TV.

If you have really good food and good prices, you can be successful. This is why dempseys does so good. I have never had a bad meal there and their prices are not high. I do hate driving out there to get it but I do. I went to jones creek cafe once and the prices were high and it was nothing but old people in there on a Friday night
Driving out there from where? There is a Jefferson location.

<<I like the Winn Dixie, but it seems like them or Hi Nabor would be the odd man out.>>
I think Winn Dixie survives because location. For folks near Stumberg, it's hard to pass it up to go down to Jones Creek.
On the other hand, Albertson's, Wal Mart and Hi Nabor are all clumped there together near Jones Creek/Coursey/George O'Neal. So yeah, Hi Nabor seems to be the odd man out.
