A friend of mine says he always throws in a handful of the holy trinity into his sausage ball mixture. Anybody else use it in your sausage ball recipe? I’ve never tried it but plan on it in a few days.

Nah bruh... bisquick, cheddar, and hot Jimmy Dean's. Don't need to mess with perfection.

I'm a fan of using Jimmy Dean Country Mild sometimes. Has a nice flavor.

Nope but I’ve seen recipes that use Red Lobster cheddar biscuit mix instead of Bisquick
Want to try it soon

I always mix Trappeys hot sauce into mine. People can't figure it out but always rave about them.

Bump for help.

The ratios of sausage/mix/and cheese seem to be all over the place online. I think I would want them more sausage/cheesy than bread-y. Anyone have a go-to ratio?

Also I feel like last time I made these I used milk, but I see no mention of milk in old threads.

I use milk in mine, but I also use my own flour/baking powder, etc instead of Bisquick. Iverstine breakfast sausage, sharp cheddar and some parmesan cheese, garlic granules and fresh rosemary from our herb garden as well. I'd have to dig up my exact recipe later.

Should have thought of that before you said it considering we’ve been texting all day.

All good. Did 2 cups Bisquick, 1lb freshly grated cheddar, and 1lb jimmy dean hot. Added a little mustard powder and Crystal.

Kneading without milk is a workout.

B - Iverstine’s sausage is a good idea. I’ll have to use that next time.

Damn straight it is, but once it comes together they are really great. We freeze what we don't eat. Usually make a double batch.

Mustard powder sounds like a good addition as well

Just ran to the store for beer and went ahead and got more cheese and sausage for a batch 2.

That sounds like too much Bisquick

I'm new to the game, but the ones I made so far seem pretty good

1-1.25 cups of Bisquick
1 lb sausage
1 8oz pack shredded cheddar
1/2 - 2/3 block cream cheese

Grate your own cheddar. The pre shredded stuff is too dry and doesn't melt as well.

I think it being dry actually helps a little given that most people use a higher bisquick ratio than the recipe I follow. Never had any issue with it not melting.

They aren’t too bready, if that’s the concern. I used twice the amount of cheddar you did which I don’t think would work with much less Bisquick.

Like I said, I'm new to the game and haven't experimented much with it. Let me know how it turns out.

This, but stove top stuffing instead of bisquick. (I sometimes use mexican cheese blend as well).
