Why do they call it Santa Fe when their menu is decidedly not Santa Fe style mexican?

What does "Santa Fe style" Mexican mean? The picture of Don Quixote is a pretty good sign they are not going for Mexican.

One of the hallmarks is Green Sauce made from green chilies and Red sauce made from red chilies. It is probably my favorite type of mexican. I'm going to post a pic recipe thread of how to make the red sauce from whole, dried red new mexican peppers and the stacked enchiladas and a burrito. If I went into a place named Santa Fe and I couldnt get enchiladas christmas style, I would be disappointed.

If you have lived in any city with good Mexican food. New Orleans is going to be a real let down in the Mexican department.

Best to look elsewhere.

Its been years since I hung around this area but my father recently moved there and Ive been bike riding city park and the surrounding area on the weekends when I visit. I forgot how nice it was.

Cafe Degas can be nice for dinner.

THe Harrisson Avenue spot is really much better than VC.

I go to VC with my children because they like it. That is the only reason.

I heard that it had been mediocre but has really improved as of late

I've experienced the opposite, but it's been about a year since I've been because of a poor meal.

I'm just being critical of the name. The menu has a lot of tex-mex items and coastal mexcian seafood so maybe they should call it Tejas Veracruz.

Calling it Santa Fe is like calling a restaurant in New Mexico "New Orleans" and serving Fried Cod and Salmon.

LNCHBOX, I must have missed your contribution to this thread. Do you just lurk around trying to insite petty bickering?

You may want to get your eyes checked. I mean it's not like I was the first to respond to this thread.

Santa Fe

Place is not as bad as some make it out to be, but I find it hard to believe it could be the "best Mexican restaurant" anyone has ever eaten at.

I suppose the name sort of is confusing, though. I want to say, it used to be a bit more Santa Fe inspired style when it they were located in the Marigny (I think it was different owners), but I'm not positive.

What's the deal with their place on St. Charles Avenue? The Santa Fe "Tapas" place. I've never seen anyone in that joint.

Yeah, it's not the same. I believe it is new ownership.

I've never been. It's not highly regarded. That little corner is one of the most dangerous in NOLA.

I went there one time when I was incredibly hungover. The coffee was pretty much all I had, but everyone else enjoyed their brunch.

Had brunch there as well. The shrimp and grits are legit. They need to work on their cornbread.
