Looking for some ideas for casual eating in SF.
I found an earlier thread but it was mostly more fine dining.

TIA

Elephant Sushi- get there early for the Nob Hill location. It's a hole in the wall with a bar and that's it

Zushi Puzzle was great when we were there a few years back.

Only have one afternoon/evening of furious eating and drinking in San Fran to draw upon, but Zuni Cafe and Mission Chinese Food were two incredibly delicious meals. Both I would consider casual and totally different experiences.

- SoMa StrEat Food Park
- El Techo in Mission has a fun rooftop. There are better Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, though (i.e. Tacqueria Cancun)
- Deli Board in SoMa is a good stop for a sandwich before heading to Cellarmaker or City Beer Store
- Have also stopped at Lunchpad and Iza Ramen before Toronado
- City View and Good Mong are great for dim sum
- Hog Island is great for oysters and Swan Oyster Depot has awesome seafood. Would consider them casual, but they aren't the cheapest places.

Tommy's Mexican on Geary...after hiking around the bath house ruins at Lands End. Best margaritas you'll ever have. They also drop the whole taco in the frier, efficitively making a soft corn tortilla, with meat inside,?into a hard shell. Yum.

Agreed with China Live, but couldn't decide whether to include in my post. There are a number of other places in the area that are, likely, a bit more casual.

That said, this is my go-to almost every time that I am in San Francisco.

Thanks for the responses. Only going to be there one day and doing a lot of walking etc., so not looking for white tablecloth or waits, etc.

--Slanted Door (Ferry Bldg)
--Tartine Bakery (Mission)
--Tony's Pizza Napoletana (world pizza champ Tony Gemignani's restaurant in North Beach, offering regional pizza styles cooked in various oven types)
--Zuni Cafe for the iconic roasted chicken & bread salad
--Tadich Grill (old school croatian seafood restaurant, cioppino, dungeness crab)
--City View Restaurant (dim sum on push carts, downtown)

One of my favorite cities in the world.....
