I know. Nobody cares. But I'm bored at work so here you go.

City Pork - I know it's not in NOLA, but we stopped here for lunch on the way down because I wanted to give it another try. I ordered the same thing that I got the last time, the Big Pig (pulled pork sandwich) and last time I thought was just overall bland. Much better this time. Pulled pork sandwich with a good slaw is my favorite sandwich so I enjoy it when people do it right. City Pork got it right this time.

Peche - First time going and was anxious to see if it lived up to the hype. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation expecting to sit at the bar and wait, but they seated us immediately, which was cool. We pretty much ordered all the snack, small plates, and all the small plates off the raw bar specials.

The highlights were the crab capellini (we actually ordered another one), everything off the raw bar, brussel sprouts, and grilled chicken (surprisingly).

The only thing that was left somewhat on the table was the spicy ground shrimp. It was good, but it just kinda tasted like chili. Left us all wanting more.

Guess the only negative thing I can say is that since the beer list was lacking, I ordered a cocktail based off our servers recommendation called The Hemingway and I thought it was awful. But I'm admittedly not a huge cocktail guy.

Here is a shitty pic of our table:

District Donuts - I know sweets for breakfast get a lot of hate here, but I fricking love donuts. I can't remember what donuts we got, but they were all sugar bombs and they were delicious.

Somebody ordered a chicken biscuit with gravy and I thought it had this weird metallic flavor.

Their coffee was also horrible.

Basin - We stopped in here because we were doing the shopping on Magazine thing and we wanted a light lunch. Never heard anything about this place so wasn't sure but the fish tacos were great IMO. Everybody seemed to like their dishes as well, although most were salads.

They also made a really nice "NOLA" mule.

Bourbon House - Rehearsal dinner. Shrimp and corn bisque was awful. Redfish entree was meh. Cheesecake was good though.

Here is where I comment on Bourbon street. How anyone over the age of 25 can find Bourbon enjoyable is beyond me. Some of the people in our group wanted to go out to I reluctantly went (I pouted like a bitch though) and we ended up at the International House of Beers or something. I don't know. I paid fricking $22 for a La Fin du Monde and a Canebrake in a goddamn plastic cup. I just laughed at the bartender when he told me the price. frick all of Bourbon.

HiVolt - Awesome coffee. Their Japanese cold brew was some of the best I've had. Their basil toast with vegan "cheese" and cucumbers was surprisingly awesome.

NOLA taproom - Great space. Loved how many unique beers they had on tap. Ate McClures BBQ while there and their pulled pork sandwich with slaw kinda sucked. It was quite bland. I had to load it down with NC BBQ sauce. City Porks was much better. Beers were good though.

We went there last year. Found ourselves on Mag St wanting to eat outside and somebody here (maybe Tigerwise) pointed us to there. We ordered a ton of stuff and really liked all of it..

Solid choice on Basin. I've been there 4-5 times and it has always been quite good. I'v even directed other people there when in the area and they all said good things. I just don't understand how the place stays open. It's always absolutely dead when I pass.

Serious? I've noticed the opposite. People here go bonkers for donuts and similarly child-like breakfast items.

Don't know if you had any raw oysters but the ones from my farm in Navy Cove were on the menu this weekend. It's our first season harvesting so I was super excited to see them get to Peche.

It's atrocious. I have no idea what they do or what they use, but God it's freaking terrible. Only coffee in town that makes me long for my office Community commercial grade.

It's underappreciated for sure. I like it a lot. Similar to Peche but with a way smaller menu. Still lots of fresh creative seafood dishes.
