After a horrible experience with the owner at Pinettas, I've discovered that your credit card company is your friend. Just call them after you pay, and tell them to refuse payment and give them the reasons why. Avoids unnecessary confrontation.

I can mention that to my sis, since it was put on her card.

Looking at the menu online, the desserts sound awesome.

That does sound terrible. Sounds like the server was terrible if your food was arriving cold and your drinks were that late.

I think their confrontation with the mananger was absolutely necessary. Sounds like a terrible experience.

I wasn't implying it wasn't necessary.

I'm just saying that, after my Pinetta's ordeal, I'd rather just move on and not pay for it. I have no inclination to deal w/ the manager who may or may not be an a-hole.

Sorry for your terrible experience.

I was there over the weekend and had the exact opposite experience.

Mussels, scallops, and pork chop were all wonderful.

I ate there once and had a great meal. I felt way to cramped with how the seating was. I had a couple sitting almost in my lap to my left and we were squeezed next to the kitchen entrance and kept almost getting bumped.

That kitchen is extremely small so I guess I could see that they could get a little off on their timing, but the attitude of the staff toward you is shameful. Screw that kind of stuff.

I didn't want to mention the layout of the place, but yeah, I thought it was awful. Anybody who tries to go there for a romantic meal is gonna have a really rough time - at least on a Saturday night.

If the noise levels weren't obnoxiously loud, the tables being so scrunched together made you feel like it was.

I didn't have the greatest experience with my food there (subpar risotto, undercooked duck) but I overall it wasn't a bad experience.

I agree that there are some tables that are less than ideal- particularly the ones close to the bar. That's the problem with having such a small space. I guess I was just lucky to get a good table in the corner.

Honestly that doesn't sound like a problem with the kitchen. If the food is cold the servers are likely behind. Though I suppose it's entirely possible that some foods were done before others, but if it was all cold it was likely done at the same time and just not served on time.

And that is why chains are popular.

I bet you never have had to wait or bargain for the bread at Texas Roadhouse. And my 24 ounce American light beer is always ICE COLD and timely.

Sorry but your logic is terrible. This kind of thing can easily happen at chains. In fact, I'd say they're more prone to it since the workers probably don't give a rat's arse about the food.

Yeah, sounds like the OP got a POS DGAF waitress. Nothing like a bad attitude f'n up someone's dining experience.

I wonder what the odds of being severely disappointed at a chain is versus an independent.

You know what you are getting.

WTF does this mean, todays waiters at Chilis are tommorrows waiters at Rue 127. If the DGAF at Chilis, they DGAF where ever they go.

But mainly it was a post just to goof off, especially following Mikes meltdown.

I'm pretty sure their pastry chef came from a big restaurant or hotel. She is supposed to be very good.

Although I am in no way defending Rue 127, why do you expect to not pay for your meal? Did you eat it? If it's inedible (undercooked chicken, etc) then that's one thing. But if you eat it, and it's below your expectations...pay for it and don't go back and complain on a msg board all you want.

But the expectation to get comped is IMO bullshite. If the waitress is slow to get drinks out, mention it or let your tip reflect it, but there's no reason to expect them to be free.

Well, according to VISA, poor service is an acceptable reason to not pay for your meal.

And my experience w/ Pinetta's was beyond this Rue 127 experience. Not to minimize his experience.
