Some say it's the same kind of cuisine that many restaurants offer here already. That may be true but what amazes me is how many restaurants manage to screw it up.

Bingo. Screw the "just like every other BR restaurant" crowd that bangs on places. I have really enjoyed my meals at the Natchez location. Hope they do well n BR.

I lived in Baton Rouge my whole life and moved to Natchez two years ago and eat at the original Roux 61 regularly. It stacks up to any seafood restaurant in BR. I suggest anyone that can, go to the BR location.

After seeing this thread, I went to Roux 61 hoping to try the place...

The parking lot, along with 4 lots next to them were all filled up, with more people pouring in, and an hour wait with no seats at the bar.

Looking forward to trying this place, bc obviously they're doing it right and crushing it.

Same here. We showed up at about 7:30 and you couldn't get near the place.

Just went to the bar and had a few apps. Place is beautiful, and very legit. Packed and on a wait, super friendly staff, will be going back frequently

I find Roux 61 to be overpriced. The food is good, it just costs too much ($3-$5 more than comparable places). $15.95 for a catfish poboy? No thanks.

Same price as the oyster and shrimp. You need to eat out more.

so, back on topic.. this place is on Bluebonnet? Would have bet with that name it was on Airline.

Will probably give it a shot after the dust settles.

The menu looks really good. They need to add roast beef to their po-boy selection.

Yup. The Natchez location had a story on the wall about why they chose the name of the restaurant... Located on 61, but Roux rather than Route being a dining establishment w southern cuisine. They are paying homage to the "Blues Highway" and a rich history of solid southern foods from NOLA-MS Delta-Memphis, etc.

Ate there for the first time tonight. Pretty damn good IMO. Nice cold oysters. Big shrimp. I live right close to there too and I'll probably hit the oyster half price deal on Tuesdays in the future.

Better menu options than Sammy's IMO. Maybe close to The Chimes caliber. Somewhere in between those two.

I don't know if the restaurants serve the same, but my father-in-law hit the one in Natchez, ordered the whole fried fish, and still talks about how much he got. 5 whole fried fish with "bottomless" fries for $14.00.

Look forward to trying soon.

Food was great. Service was unbelievably bad. Our waitress had no clue what she was doing. Forgot to put our order in. Never could get a refill. Had to ask to get a bill and then nobody ever came back. Didn't have enough cash so I had to find a manager to run my card. Terrible experience. I'll wait until they hire good people before I go back.

Looking forward to trying the blackened catfish sandwich.

Finally went.

Got there around 11:15 for lunch and didnt leave until about 12:45.

Overpriced, but food was ok. Fried pickles came out quick and were good. They got my order incorrect, but fixed it so no big deal. Shrimp and oyster poboy was good, but small for 12 bucks. Coworker got the gumbo and the sausage was pitch black even though it was a seafood gumbo

Service was slow especially once they got packed around noon. Wasn't necessarily a bad experience, but w/out a lunch menu all you can realistically get are the sandiwhces/burgers/poboys simply because its the only things under $20. And even then I would rather go somewhere else and get a better meal for a cheaper price.
