RIP. Sounds like a great man who lived a great life. Those sudden deaths are so scary.

I always stopped to read when I was scrolling through a thread and saw his name.

Sorry for your loss, tree.

I always enjoyed his posts.

Prayers for a family that lost a good man way too young.

TDawg, I found his Facebook page as well as yours. Your pain is palpable. I hope your close friendship and memories help you and his family over time.

Just wanted to add my condolences

I didn't really know KG from this board, but I occasionally saw him around the site, mostly the OT, where his polite, reasonable posts made him stand out.

I also remember him from the Music Board, where he sometimes shared reminiscences of concert going in the '70s.

He always came across as a nice guy, and from the memorials posted here that appears to have been true IRL as well

RIP

Thanks Gris, you know this board meant so much to him because of his love for cooking and good food. I could not begin to count the people we fed together over the years. Setting up that old black pot under a shade tree and making magic happen was one our favorite things to do together.

I hope one day to meet you and so many others from the years of posting here.

No official Obit yet but services will be held at Greenoaks, Wake Sunday 5-7, Funeral Monday 10:00.

We actually had discussions of how he would not want his funeral held on LSU game day...........

Don't be a stranger here TreeDawg. You're one of the greats on FDB, too. Bless you and yours.

Honestly, KG, treedawg, and pochejp are probably the first posters that I clearly remember from TD during my first days here. I remember trying (and still use) many of their recipes.

R.I.P., KG. Hang in there, tree.

Word. I've used plenty of their recipes as the first time cooking a meal.

When I worked offshore, all the guys from south and central America had me print out recipes from the TD cookbook from them.

I want to thank all who paid condolences. This following was on Gary's FB page as a favorite quote and pretty much tells how he was. Until we meet again my brother, you just keep on waltzing to Jolie Blon:

A Cajun's Toast

May there be crawfish in your nets.
And gumbo in your pot.
May the Sac-au-lait be biting
At your favorite fishing spot.
May God's sun be shining brightly
When you need its cheerful rays.
May the oak tree shade you gently
On those lazy bayou days.
May a Bourree' game be waiting
When all your work is through.
May the fais-do-do bring pretty girls
To toss a wink at you.
And when your time is over
And your place on earth is gone,
May you waltz right into heaven
To the tune of "Jolie Blonde."
