Planning on returning this weekend. I've been there in the past but mainly just for the pizzas. I've heard a lot of hype about the cauliflower and also the fried kale, but they're both so darn pricy. Hard for me to pay $18 for a head of cauliflower. Are these items worth it? I also plan on trying the stracci pasta and maybe the crispy beef tongue. Any other can't-miss items?

Earlie, don't quibble about the prices of those items. Go, buy, enjoy. If needed, eat tuna fish and PBJ's for a few meals later to even out the budget. Enjoy what a good restaurant has to offer.

I wouldn't order it if you don't have a large party(4+). It's massive and will fill you up.

The stracci is killer along with most of their pasta dishes. Don't sleep on their salumi options. Duck liver pate FTW!

I could drink that duck liver pate! Go and be a glutton, well worth the price.

I feel the same way. Got it when I was with two other people, and we barely made a dent in it, so the $18 was not at all justified.

I'd get it with a big group where everyone can snag a slice, though.

The stracci and roasted carrot pizza are my 1A and 1B there.

Its pricey for a vegetable, but a head of cauliflower is what around $2-4 in the grocery store? Its also served with some whipped goat's feta, which again probably runs them $2-3 for the dish. And its a fairly labor intensive dish all things considered, involving blanching of lots of cauliflower, draining it, prepping the feta, etc...

I'd imagine the "cost" on that dish is probably anywhere from $7-10 bucks. When viewed that way the price isnt out of control.

Agree that the whole head of cauliflower is indeed worth it, but not unless you have a table full of friends to share it with. It's a LOT of cauliflower. Plus, the cauliflower is on the menu at Pizza Domenica, so if you want another chance at it, you can go to PD.

I have made Shaya's recipe at home a few times. It's actually done sous vide first then roasted. Very labor intensive and definitely worth the cost.

Yeah, I just blanch it and roast it on a baking steel.

Ive seen about three or four different versions of his recipe published. All purport to be from him, hadn't seen the sous vide version.

if yall are talking about PIZZA dominica....somewhat funny story....

last week i had to bring my daughter to oschner for a follow up. she wanted pizza, and being that tower of pizza was out of the question, i decided to look for a new place. i found pizza dominica on google and told my wife "this looks good, lets go." she then proceeds to tell me that it's john besh's place. before another word was uttered, i pulled a u-turn and went to Reginelli's.

lafayette hwy. 90 sandwich.....not too shabby
