After reading all of these, I find I must say that most of you need to have several near death experiences, especially where folks were actively trying to kill you.

Makes one appreciate Piccadilly's and most of the other places mentioned here.

Wait! I got one. No, come to think of it, after a few beers, their noodles and dog with spicy broth and vegies were pretty good.

Piccadilly has good fried chicken, good mashed potatoes and gravy, and good green beans.

What else do you need?

ETA: Maybe some fried okra.

Gonna have to agree on Shaya. Give me Byblos at 1/6 the cost or give me Mediterranean death.

Shaya at lunch can be a good value. Falafel sandwich with fries for $12, plus the pita and zaatar as a free appetizer. You can't eat at Byblos, Lebanon's, etc. for much less than that. Agree if you order a bunch of plates or go at dinner, then it's pricey. Having said that, I go only once in a while and usually hit up Byblos Market for kafta or Hummus&More for Chicken Kabobs & toum.

They do have good versions of all of those things, but so do a half dozen other cheaper and better places in town.

Went to Mary Mahoney's in Biloxi last Saturday for the first time. I don't need to go back. All of the food was good but not exceptional. Service was not exceptional. Decor was abysmal. But yet the prices were $$$$ for this average experience.

Fair list, but I would strongly disagree with Mansur's and several others are good lunchtime choices.

I am with you there. My grandparents always make me go to this place. I don't like it and I much rather go eat at places I really enjoy while I am visiting NOLA. Nope, they want to take me to this place. Hard to tell them to go somewhere else, they are old and set in their ways.
