What are some of best cajun style restaurants around Bourbon Street that are a must to try?

I will attempt to answer this question seriously.

New Orleans is not a "cajun" city so there aren't that many "cajun style" restaurants (whatever that means) that are worth a shite. And especially "near Bourbon Street" one of the shittiest areas in the city for anything but tourist traps.

HOWEVER, there are a few good places.

For "cajun":

Casual: Coop's Place
Upscale(ish): K-Paul's, Kingfish

That's pretty much it. Avoid tourist shitholes like Oceania.

If you want something that is much more in line with "New Orleans Cuisine" aka creole, near Bourbon Street, there are many, many, many more choices, such as:

Galatoire's (dress code)
Arnaud's
Brennan's
Mr. B's
Nola (emeril place)
R'evolution (very high end and pricey)

No offense my friend, but do not take this advice under any circumstances. The very definition of a tourist trap.

When you say Cajun, what type of dishes are you imagining in your head?

Thanks, I guess. OP wanted Cajun near Bourbon Street. I’ve only ever been to the Mulates in Lafayette. That entire area is a tourist trap IMHO.

Have a friend coming in from out of town and going to Bourbon Street. Just want to take him somewhere with good Louisiana food. I guess creole is a better term than cajun.
Thanks for the replies so far.

When you say "Good Louisiana food", what specifically do you have in mind?
