My personal suggestion would be not to think in terms of "louisiana food" but to just eat well in New Orleans.

If you're looking at "New Orleans-y" restaurants, here's a quick rundown of what I would do. You'll need to take an Uber or Streetcar and get out of the FQ for many of these, but I would say that is worth it.

Cochon
Peche
Cochon Butcher (casual)
Parkway Bakery (poboys)
Bevi Seafood (boiled seafood and great poboys)

In the FQ
Johnny's Poboys
Eat (as previously mentioned by Gyno)
Galatoire's if you don't mind putting on a coat
Sylvain

These answers could change depending on what exactly your want...and if you guys are looking to go out and get wasted and look for honeys

I’ll throw in Bourbon House. Damn fine oysters and I love their crab claws.

I used to agree. Good food at good prices but they have gone nuts with their pricing...

Crabmeat Au Gratin $41.50
Soft Shell Crab Alvin (1 crab) $36.50
Red Fish Bon Ton $40

They have entirely different meanings. It's like saying chocolate and vanilla

They do have different meanings but it's more like regional differences in Chinese food. Many of the items are variations of the same thing. You're not talking Chinese vs Irish food. And in from Acadiana so it takes a lot for me to admit that
