I will find myself in Hammond fairly soon with a hungry family, any good local spots to hit up that are family friendly?

Poured House and Tommy's for pizza
Salty Joe's for BBQ
Brady or Mariners for seafood
Lee's for old finer feel
Then they have Walk-On's, Sante Fe, Chili's, Buffalo Wild Wings, LA Carreta, etc

not mentioned above is Cate Street Seafood. I prefer the sushi there over Kirin. Heard it had damage in IDA. Cool little atmosphere as the restaurant is on the train tracks as a railcar downtown

Lee’s Diner looks up our alley. Thanks.

I am sure the bbq place is good too, I just smoke whenever I get a chance so we usually don’t go out for bbq.

One of the few places that didnt let me down when I used to live there. Great food, cool atmosphere, good service, ice cream in several fashions for dessert, and it’s great for a family.

For a family, Lee's is the Hammond GOAT.

Went to Saltys bbq last Sunday. Don't go. It has great ambiance, space, outdoor and live music. The BBQ was not good. The Mac and cheese was sour. Sour to the point two kids under 8 that eat any Mac n cheese in front them wouldn't eat it.

Should have just gone to middendorfs.

I've been 3 times and I'm not a fan but everyone has different tastes and it is a great family place. 2 out of the 3 times I've been given cold food, the mac and cheese is poorly done, and last time the beer lines were jacked up that nothing came out tasting the way it should

Which one of these is the nearest to SLU if I’m coming from HWY 51?

Essentially they are down the street from each other. If you get off at the exit past University and turn towards Hammond that road will bring to within a block of each. (It becomes a one way road so you have to make a block to get to them)

Pour house is way better than Tommy’s. Tope La is not good after their chef left for Buddies. Blackened Brew is garbage. Cena and Le Saigon are both excellent

Commodores (isn't downtown) is better and cleaner than Tommy's. I think the guy that owns blackened brew owns pour house as well.

Tommy’s.

NEVER go to Tommy's!

That place is disgusting inside and notorious for being full of rats and roaches.
