I’ve been around awhile, I recognize the overall opinion based on the downvotes.

Here's the thing about Mulate's...its in a great location and they will generally have music, in particular Zydeco music, which is great for out of towners, in particularly kids. So you could have fun there, and if your kids are young they won't give a flying frick about the food.
But the food is trash.

Not the experience I’m looking for when dining in NO.

Mothers, which is close by and you will see a line of tourists wrapped around the block, is also absolute trash.

Yeah I'm sure a group could...have fun at Mulate's. I just wouldn't expect any culinary delights
Yes, folks could have fun there dancing and listening to the Cajun music as long as they are not there for the food.

Grand Isle restaurant, if it's still open. Really good.

Do not, under any circumstances, eat at Mulate's. The food is terrible. Really terrible. They bill themselves as authentic cajun food, but it is the farthest thing from it. It's barely even food. No lie.

I got mild food poisoning at Le Chat Noir and still spent the next day on the couch telling people they need to go. Could be a bit of a walk depending on hotel

Mulate’s & Mother’s are off the table at this point.

Easy answer. Chemin a la Mer.

Some great suggestions, I would also add Gianna on the list. They do do brunch on the weekends as well.

Are you going for Cheerleading competition? My brother and nieces will be coming from Huntsville for it. I'll pass this thread along to him.

Agreed. Love some day drinking at Ernst Cafe. Never tried the food.

Mulatte's is a tourist trap. I would not waste a meal there.
I may be the only person on this board who doesn't think Mother's is that bad. I find myself in that neighborhood around lunch time occasionally. That is one of the better "tourist traps" around IMO.

The line is stupid and you are certainty paying tourist trap prices, but they still do a lot of what they do with care and craft.
