I’ve always loved red beans and rice. But as I get older, the more I cook it, the higher it climbs to the top of my favorites list. Anyone feel the same way?

Red beans are great but they give me terrible gas. I find I almost always go with white beans now because of this. I cook them with pickled pork and Bourque's smoked sausage. Hard to beat.

Same as others. I love them for the nostalgia; but I’m team white beans these days.
Both are amazing with perfectly cooked jasmine rice and cast iron cornbread.
May have to cook some tomorrow.

I live white beans with fried catfish

I enjoy cooking and tasting red beans more than I do eating them as a meal. When I make them, I’m one and done even though they’re good. However I love Popeye’s without rice.

I like read and white, like others here. White beans, smoked sausage , and shrimp is a real nice treat.
But red beans n rice + fried chicken is a death row meal for me.

Red beans, white beans, field peas, blackeye peas, limas….love them all and find myself cooking them more as I get older.

Spicy pinto beans with smoked pork belly, over rice.
That was my dinner tonight.

I'm probably a slight lean to white over red beans, though I love them both. However I've not noticed any difference flatulence wise between the two.

The worst IMO of the bean family, especially in SE Louisiana. I know lots of people love them but they aren’t for me.

Like both but lately WB and catfish is perfection!

Even more reason to eat them.

I am a red bean comfort food fanatic. My wife however loves white beans for some reason.
I do cook them differently though, red beans get pickle meat, sausage, and veggies cooked in bacon grease. White beans get leftovers from a ham.
I need to try cooking white like I do red and vice versa.
If I'm on death row, red beans is on my menu. With hot sauce and pickled mirliton.

The trick is to only cook 239 beans, one more makes them . . .

It's hard to beat red beans, rice, and a big piece of jalapeno corn bread. I used to make a big pot of them on Sunday and then eat on them all week when I was in college.

cut onions and sausage. brown them. one can of blue runner red beans. one can of kidney beans. season a little more as it doesn't come seasoned enough. hard to beat.

Yes, if you do it right.
Although I do think white beans done right are slowly catching up with red beans.
