If it has to be a combo the new gravity fed options seem ideal.

Options are wide and varied. Really comes down to how much you want to spend.

I would choose pellet grill. Haven't always been sold on the pellet grill but now I see no reason not to go this route.

I have a Rectec Bullseye and it's been awesome for both grilling and smoking.

Not much you can't do with a Blackstone and a Pellet grill.

If you want to charcoal/wood smoke and gas grill... this guy gets the job done: Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn Black Triple-Function Combo Grill

I use mine a good bit... the side burner is actually pretty handy to get the charcoal started. The primary downside is you're sacrificing cooking surface for dual purpose.

Masterbuilt Gravity Series.

2nd. I love mine and use it every chance I get. I prefer cooking on charcoal and this was a perfect alternative to a pellet grill. Just having a fan makes it quieter than pellet grills too. It does a good job holding temp and I like I can do slow smokes in the upper 100 range or crank it up to 700 to sear a steak.

This is what I had before the Masterbuilt. It was convenient having the gas option for quickly grilling chicken breast or something during the week, but it was hard to keep a constant temp in the charcoal side. The lid was pretty leaky.

One thing that was neat is the side burner has an indention that is the perfect size for lighting your chimney starter.

Don't overthink this. Get a Weber Kettle with slow n sear attachment.

Only other option I would pick over the above suggestions would be a Chud box type cooker. He’s not taking orders anymore, but I think Riverside Smokers in Luling is going to start making that style of cooker.

You can also grill on most offset smokers.

Call up Allens Welding and Woodworking and have him build you what you want. It will outlast you and your grandkids.

Hes actually not as expensive as you would think. My buddy is getting a 40"×20" with a 22" insulated firebox for under $1600.

I bought this from Sam’s Club a few years ago:

The combo setup is great for grilling, but not for smoking because it’s simply too small. My plan is to keep it and buy a legit offset smoker. If I could do it over again, I probably would have gone a different route. I was kind of a beginner at the time .
