So is it too late to jump in this? I went to the doctor yesterday for some sinus problems and although I got those taken care of, it opened a whole new can of worms in regards to weight and blood pressure. I wasn't overly pleased with either.

Likewise for me.

I am now on medication for PB. I plan to start modifying my eatting habits monday. Partly because the wife and I are hosting a party this weekend and partly because I need to shop correctly.

My goals are to lose about 50 pounds (if not more) and to get off the BP medication.

I'm going to take about 2 weeks to adjust my diet than start to incorporate exercise into my day (currently doing nothing).

Hope to check in to this thread from time to time to post updates.

Stir fry, baked chick or salmon with steamed veggies. Vegetable lasagna, chili. Lindas Low Carb has some good recipes on it.

Paleo recipes

Some people on here like me have gone the paleo route. I started a little over 3 months ago. I have lost almost 30 lbs in that time frame but I am pretty hardcore with it and work out 6 days a week. You have to be willing to cook and prepare your own meals to make it work. I love to cook so it works for me.

You weight in however you feel comfortable with.. speaking from personal experience, I weigh every day regardless of whether I'm recording an 'official' weight once every so often or just weighing daily.. so that's completely up to you. Sometimes my weighing every day gets on my nerves because I get impatient.. but I'm too curious to not weigh every morning

I weigh in at least 3 times a week, I find it keeps me honest.

I weigh daily, mostly out of curiosity like Hulk. It can get you discouraged though. I've felt pretty bad about how things have been going lately, but then I looked at this date one month ago and I've lost ten pounds since then. So there are benefits to weighing less often. I will say this though, weighing daily makes me feel more accountable.

If any of the newcomers are interested in paleo/low carb, you can check out my food and exercise diary at MFP:

I'm no perfect model example, but you can read what I eat and get a good idea of how it works.

2 mile race results. 15:08, not as good as I wanted but a 38 second improvement from last race. So looking at it like that, it's not bad at all.

Congrats CM, I'm sure it's a lot better than where you started at though even if it's still not where you want to be.

Lol, I ran a sub 12 minute mile for the first time yesterday. Yesterday was the last day of couch to 5k with any breaks between runs. From here out it's straight running. I'm glad though, now I'll get a more true idea of my speed.

302/258/245 - New low reached. Having my wife on the diet helps big time.

Finally broke 50lbs!! I am now the lightest i have been since High School.

Started this journey in size 44/34 pants, my 38/34's are now fitting me loose. BTW, I have two spare closets full of clothes that no longer fit

Lately my husband and I have been sauteing shrimp in a little bit of olive oil seasoning with orange and yellow peppers and adding the mixture to a salad. It's a quick, yummy meal.

I'm not a real Dr. Oz fan but I did follow this advice. When I downsized my wardrobe, I got rid of all the too-large clothes. As he said, if my current size gets snug, it reinforces the urgency of the diet and need to lose. That's partly how this past holiday season was a success.

I used to balloon three waist sizes then require a panic diet.

Congrats nola

Did you decide on a diet plan?

I will start with the counting calories (my fitness pal app) and 30-45 min cardio & circuit training (alternating days)
