I use coconut milk as a replacement to the thoroughly processed, unhealthy milk people use on a day-to-day basis. It's quite good, actually. I don't drink it alone much, but I love to use it to make smoothies with berries. Once in a while I may have a small glass of it with breakfast, but more often than not I just use it to make smoothies. It's a great replacement. Better than almond milk too, which is also very processed.

Same here, Hulk. Getting milk 95% out of my diet made a huge difference. I used to drink 1% 4-5 nights a week with dinner. Now we use cocunut milk to make things like smoothies. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a big glass of milk.

ETA: I don't like the cocunut milk too much by itself, but is great in making smoothies, etc.

I love milk! I used to drink 2%, but now I drink skim. There is no way in hell I will ever stop drinking milk. I could be lactose intolerant and shite my pants, but I'm still drinking it.

Danger! Danger! :lostinspacerobot:

Salt. Sodium. = Spice, condiment, preservative?

Dinner with Sis who is leaving town and everyone got different orders. We share to compare. Everyone's entree was like sharing a deer saltlick.

I am going to read through this thread. Looks like some good advice here and there. I really want to lose 200 pounds. For exercise, I just bought a Schwinn Adult Trike. Probably not where I need to end up at, but its a start. I am really glad to see this thread. It gives some hope through what is not going to be an easy journey. I doubt that I will ever get back to my old playing weight in college, but if I can get to 200, I will consider that a major accomplishment.

shocked because cals were over 2000 and sodium was immeasurable. probably saved by alcohol dehydration.

welcome Salty. the former big guys on here will tell you to focus on diet first and exercise second. get a good scale and good luck.

Sodium bombs then alcohol to reverse its effects. That's the best tip I've received in a long time.

Getting back to normal after the midweek blowout. Definitely looks to be a no cheat weekend. Famous last words...
Salty welcome. There are several posters here who have lost lots of weight. Most do Atkins or Paleo diets. There is no better time than the present to get started. Good luck!

Is this a typo or is this legit? If it's legit, more power to you. We're a friendly bunch here and it's a great place to get help. I have a total of 143 to lose, so I can relate. Always, always keep in mind that its a marathon, not a sprint. Plan for the long term, but only count on a day-to-day basis. Good luck and good health!

Salty

Set manageable goals. Start with just 10 to 20 pounds to lose. Reach that goal, rinse and repeat. If you just think of the one long term goal it can be super overwhelming so start small.

I've dropped 150 although lately I have been bouncing up and down.

I did Atkins most of the way.

The scale doesn't lie. If it isn't moving, you need to work a bit harder.

I am the founder and president of DIET FIRST. Exercise make you healthier BUT.... it doesn't help much with the weight loss and it adds too much extra stress.

With the amount you want to lose, if you stick to your diet, you will lose weight and lose it fast for the first month.

MEASURE AND COUNT YOUR CALORIES!

Find a diet you can stick to.

Good luck!

Wonder if it would be good with a protein shake or with cereal and fruit?

So far so good on the no cheat weekend.

A big chunk of the insane weight gain last week is gone. I knew it had to be lots of water but damn, I can't believe I held onto that much.

323/176.3/159.9

Now that I dropped that water, I will post the hideous number I hit on Friday.

After a lousy cheat filled week, I was up to 184.

I've had back to back good weekends, but I keep falling apart at work. I need a good week at work. Damn Wednesday lunch!

I've tried it with my protein and it tastes pretty good, but it doesn't mix worth a damn. Have to use a blender to mix it actually. I imagine it'd be fine with cereal and fruit.

I didn't have a cheat-free weekend.. friend had a party for the apartment he moved in to.. I had 6 or 7 michelobs

Weekends were made for Michelob!, so anything less than a dozen is not a cheat.

Then again, it's your call.
