how many grams of protein do you eat a day?
what type of protein are you taking
what type of protein are you taking

you dont think you eat enough protein on a high protein diet to fuel your body?
how many calories are in your protein? how many grams of protein?
there are studies that show that excess protein may be stored as fat. You are on a high protein diet as it is, and then adding protein on top. I mentioned this last time.

I don't know where you get the idea that I'm on a "high protein" diet. I'm on a high fat, low carb diet. I may get a little more protein than people who eat cereal or oatmeal for breakfast, but I'm not gobbling down meat at epic proportions, certainly not enough to say that the protein may be stored as fat. My meat portions at mealtime are the same as any dieter should have. Between meals I eat nuts, again something that any dieter can have.
1 protein shake is 140 cals, 25g protein. Whey isolate, 4g carbs, 0g sugar per serving.

do you not eat some type of meat/fish/eggs for nearly every meal?

that's almost a full meal worth of protein
If you eat 3 meals a day plus that, you don't think there is a possbility you are taking in too much protein?

Yes, and don't people on diets where carbs are allowed? Definitely people that work out do.

Yeah.. That's the point. It's called a supplement. It's to supplement protein to rebuild muscles. There are other additives to aid recovery time and such, too.
And no. If I was drinking 2 of those a day, maybe. I'm not sure I'm sold that protein is stored as fat either. Body builders that are trying to pack on muscle are recommended to take in 1g protein for every pound they weigh. Of course their protein shakes are loaded with carbs and calories too, so they do pack on fat with that muscle. Since bodybuilding isn't my goal, I'm not going to take in nearly that much protein, obviously. But my protein isn't that crazy.

Of course this is just one article.

Which means that the odds of protein being converted to fat in any quantitatively meaningful fashion is simply not going to happen. Certain amino acids are processed to a great degree in the liver (as I discuss in The Protein Book) and this can produce glucose, ketones and a few other things. But triglycerides (the storage form of ‘fat’) isn’t one of them. I imagine that if protein were going to be converted to fat, it would first have to be converted to glucose and only if the amount produced were then in excess of daily maintenance requirements would there be conversion to fat. But as noted above, this simply isn’t going to happen under any even reasonably normal circumstances. No human could eat enough protein on a daily basis for it to occur. What will happen, as discussed in Nutrient Intake, Nutrient Storage and Nutrient Oxidation. is that amino acid oxidation (burning for energy) will go up somewhat although, as discussed in that article, it’s a slow process and isn’t complete. So, as noted above, while the pathway exists for protein to be stored as fat, and folks will continue to claim that ‘excess protein just turns to fat’, it’s really just not going to happen under any sort of real-world situation. Certainly we can dream up odd theoretical situations where it might but those won’t apply to 99.9% of real-world situations.
Of course this is just one article.

Do you need to supplement your protein intake when all you eat already is protein for every meal?
do you know what supplement means?
1. Something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole.
Do you really think you aren't getting enough protein from just your meals?

If they are looking to pack on muscle, they aren't worried about gaining weight. Because it is inevitable.
You admit that is not your goal, so i don't see how that is relevant.

Do you monitor how much protein you take in each day?
Just trying to troubleshoot here.
Let's see, you dropped 80lbs by dieting. You start to workout & keep the SAME diet: You should continue to show weight loss.
Besides adding workout to your routine, what is the one thing that has changed---> your supplement intake.
I don't see why you are so hard headed about this. It's like you just want to tell yourself "its working its working." But it's not. You don't have to justify it if it is not working. You should be dropping lbs as well as body fat and inches.

do a search and read some articles that say otherwise. This guy doesn't even seem sure about it.
I dont really care what you do. You're caught up on supplements and you really don't need them. Not at your age, weight range, and ultimate goal. What would it hurt to cut them out for a week or 2 and see what happens? You might not even see a difference in your everyday life, and you may drop some lbs in the process.
at the very least consult with a professional and not the other fat guy in your office

Do I need to? IDK. Protein helps the muscles recover and rebuild. More protein shouldn't hurt.

My point is that the protein isn't what's making them put on fat, it's the carbs and excessive calories in those shakes. One of those mass gainer shakes can contain 150g carbs.

I'm hard headed about a lot of things, in case you haven't noticed
I do see your point. To be fair, I did change up my diet when I started working out as well. I changed to paleo, started eating fruits and didn't monitor my carb count, and started taking all sorts of supplements. I saw that wasn't working, so now I've stopped taking all supplements but the protein and switched back to what did work, a keto diet... but that's not even been a full week yet so that's why I posted 'patience patience patience' last time I put up a weight.
I wholeheartedly do not believe the protein is the culprit, although I will admit that I don't know enough to say 100% for sure it's not. I'll give what I'm doing a few weeks and if the scale doesn't come down, I'll cut out the protein also.. and then if that doesn't work, the only thing left to give up is exercise again (which I do not want to do, and likely won't do.

Gate opened and I'm off, started by adding a biscuit for B'fast and a fast food lunch into the first turn. The Cheatness weekend could be recordbreaker.

I hate weekends.
My brain is on overdrive screaming for a pint of ice cream.
I really do find it strange how my brain now CRAVES sweets about 100000X more than when I at 323.
