The past week has been very good to me. I'm down six pounds in one week's time. The only thing that has really changed is that I've ramped up the exercise. I've gotten into my weigh lifting program as best I can with what I have at home and I've been doing my running.

Have any of you guys ever tried trail running? I love it. It's easier on your knees and the surroundings are much nicer than just a sidewalk or a road path. You just have to focus more on where you are running. We have a good mountain bike trail where I live and I run on it and it's perfect. Plenty of hills and turns.

Trail running

I have weagle. I enjoy it very much but I have weak ankles, I've broke the right one twice and many sprains on the left from playing Baseball and Basketball all my life. The uneven surfaces kill me. My three go to spots are Audobon park, the MS river levee, and the Lakefront. Much better to run and actually see stuff to occupy your mind.

I suggest you start trying 5K's, it will motivate you and your time will be better each time, it doesn't matter if you walk or run. I like finding a girl wearing tights that is my pace and just enjoy the view.

I'm working towards that actually. I'm on week two of couch to 5K. I stayed on week one for two weeks though so technically I'm on my third week of it. I really want to work towards doing a triathlon. My first goal is a 5K, then working on cycling, then finally the swimming.

Funny you mention that about ankles. I thought I was messed up yesterday, I was literally at the halfway point of the trail with the harder parts ahead of me and I twisted my ankle. At first it felt like I hit it so awkwardly and I thought it was going to be bad. I walked it off though and don't feel anything. There are a lot of tree roots on this trail so I have to be really careful.

Oh and about the last part, my wife runs with me sometimes and I'm not sure how she'd feel about that lol.

One last thing, I'm back in an extra large for shirts. I tried on some of my old clothes from high school this morning and they fit. At first that kind of discouraged me because I thought that wasn't a big deal, then I remembered that was six years ago and most of those things were tighter then than they were today.

Meh, I gained a pound. That's not surprising since I became a freaking hunger monster last night. My regularly scheduled cadfast is coming at a good time. I think a lot of this is just water weight though, I ate a lot but it only added up to 1700 calories. However some of that was hot dogs and bratwurst so yeah plenty of sodium.

Starting the week off with a 3.5 mile run this morning. A little weight gain from the post 5k run party at the house. IPA's and jambalaya will get me every time. Was worth it. I got until Sunday to improve on last weeks run. Let's do this!!!

Anyone running the Fat Boy 5k in NOLA on Sunday?

up to 190lbs today.

my coach just flipped out on me when he saw i was trying to lose weight. he said absolutely under no circumstances am i to lose weight while i'm training or i will lose power. he told me i can do this in the off-season but its absolutely critical now to maintain my current weight and work on getting stronger.

oh well. guess i won't have much to report for a few months.

Today has been a phenomenal day. Wow. Passed my test, had a celebratory lunch for myself at Albasha (combo platter FTW). Went to the Tanger outlet malls and decided to stop by van heusen since i'd never been there... EVERYTHING was 50% off. I didn't have any polos that fit anymore, all are too big but 1 or two, so I bought a bunch of really nice clothes for $100, and all fit me exactly like I'd hoped. Then I get home and change into gym clothes and go to the gym, after my workout I get my bf%, 26.2% This weekend I'm headed to Austin with my family to meet some distant family and my half brother and sister and they're going to take me down 6th street. Talk about cloud 9 right now

nothing looks worse imo than a sagging polo shirt. glad you're getting some that fit! that definitely makes you feel good.

word of warning (i always have some dont i?) dont go TOO crazy..in another few months the shirts you bought today will be saggy.

i did that..bought 2 sports coats (on sale) that were like 42s..shortly after they look AWFUL on me. now i'm wearing 40R and its feeling a little big.

well done hulk. enjoy a fun weekend in texas.

ps dry-rub bbq is low carb

I know. When I wear my old polos I feel like I look like 363 pounds again. I hate wearing them.

Oh I know. I didn't buy a whole new warddrobe I got 2 new polos, a pair of slacks, a pair of nice lounging around shorts, and a short sleeve button-up to wear with those shorts (and sandals.. real casual look). I only wear that stuff when I go anywhere.. around the house I'm usually wearing my gym clothes because those are so comfortable.

eta

No I couldn't get them to work so I kinda stopped trying. I found some ICND01 and ICND02 study material on there that I was really hoping to dig into, too.

Much congratulations to you Hulk!!

I can think of one thing worse than a sagging polo, and that is a white dress shirt that is about two sizes two large. I wore one the other night and I felt like a sail on an old wooden sailing ship.

Diet question. How many grams of sugar are you aiming for each day? My app suggest 46/day and I don't think I have ever come any where near that low.
