True.

I just can't get to 200 fast enough. I've got to slow down in thinking about it though and just do the right things and not worry about it. For 24 days, I've been kind of obsessed. I need to think about something else.

I felt the same way until I hit my first plateau and busted it. Now I'm on a 2nd one lol. But just relax and take it one day at a time and it'll happen almost like magic.

Jesus H that's a long article. So sugar is toxic, huh? Did the article address artificial sweeteners (splenda, equal, etc)?

So today one of my friends from Europe, whom I haven't talked to in probably 6 months, IM'd me on MSN while I was at work. Gave her the update and I am losing weight.. As soon as I told her I'm on Atkins, she started saying "BE CAREFUL" and telling me that Atkins isn't safe after a few weeks. Said her sister is a nutritionist and she would yell at me for my diet and that "people have died here in the UK because of Atkins".. to which I said bullshite but I digress..

So I began a rant. After about 5 minutes of links and explanations of how cholesterol and carbs work in your body and why a high fat diet is better for you than a high carb diet, she just wanted to end the argument with "agree to disagree". No matter what evidence you provide or show how much you've researched and learned about this way of eating, some people just won't listen. She said "did you learn this from a doctor or nutritionist?" And she laughed when I said that they've all been taught the wrong thing for years and years, and only recently have med students, and I'm sure nutrition students, have been taught that so many carbs is bad. A friend of mine is about to go to med school at Tulane ($250,000 scholarship O_O) and I was amazed when she told me that they were teaching her that carbs are actually bad, when eating as much as Americans typically do.

I think within a decade, maybe 2, the current "nutrition" system will be gone and we'll have a more meat-driven recommended diet.

No the article did not include artificial sweeteners. I wish it would have also included the benefits of a high-fat, low carb diet as well, but it does mention that the carbs turning into sugar is a problem as well besides eating straight sugar.

yep..sugar article is long but when the NY times turns against you..you know something is up.

maybe people are finally waking up..but i kinda doubt it.

hulk..yep..its not worth arguing. people choose to believe 'conventional wisdom' and are horrified at the very thought that fat isn't so bad for you after all. you'll never win. just smile and go on about your business of getting lean and mean.

257/196.4/185. Finally broke through the 197 plateau!!

Be sure to tell your friend that I have lost 127 pounds and I am not dead yet.

Although I am still on this dreadful month long plateau induced by Cad's Jedi mind trick which forced me to start bike riding.

Just think, you probably won't lose that much again when you do die. How much do bones weigh?

I highly doubt that

Maybe a recommended reduction in carb intake but I don't think you're going to hear people say that Americans aren't eating enough meat.

Well I don't mean an Atkins lifestyle But a big reduction in carb intake. Like

Flip flop the meat and bread portions, or maybe the meat and fruit portions and the veggies and starch portions. 6-11 carb portions is ridiculous.

That pyramid will be blown up at some point. Having sweets and oils in the same category is pure nonsense. Some oils have actual health benefits. Sweets not so much.

I agree that at some point the large portions of carbs wiil be drastically reduced but I doubt they will up the meat intake.

I don't see any living nutritionist changing their minds on Fat even in the face of newer studies proving the old information was garbage.

Switch to the sargenta pepper jack sticks.

You don't want to love the snacks. They are just there to fill a hunger gap.
