Someone tell me, what is so special about Publix? I mean their prices are high as hell, but I see nothing special about the place. What I am missing.

If you like Walmart and the likes of them, just because they are cheap, then you will not understand.

Publix is an employee owned store. They still honor hard work and all of the employees have an interest in making sure the store is great.

The ones I have been too are clean as all hell and the employees super friendly.

I loathe Walmart. You won't catch me dead in one.

No doubt. Cleanest grocery story I have been too. Employees were super to me. But honestly, not that different from my local Kroger.

Special orange cranberry muffins.

Special cherry strudel.

Good selection of Miller light Beer.

Nice selection of ground round and baking potatoes.

Crusty bread

That's all I got, but for me, that's enough

It's the Chick-fil-a of grocery stores. Well managed, and the employees do their job. Don't know why you're saying they're priced are high, I find them very competitive. Their weekly specials are awesome, too.

ETA:

If you can get your local stores bakery to make flips, OMG.

Clean, well stocked, helpful employees, short checkout lines, and most importantly, the baskets always seem to roll properly

Because we have a new Publix in my town, we have a new beer distributor serving the area. This means, my beer store now carries Oskar Blues and Rogue.

I will support Publix.

The ones who complain that Publix is nothing special are completely indifferent about their grocery shopping experiences. They would make a killing here in South Mississippi. All we have besides crappy arse Walmart is dirty Winn-Dixie (the old Delchamps location in Biloxi is kinda nice) and Rouses which are all in old unkept Sav-A-Center locations. As soon as they open Publix in West Mobile my wife and I will be going there monthly. Publix has many things from Florida that we can't get in Mississippi like Makotos Japanese Vegetable Sauce and Joffreys Coffee.
