Happy Hour actually only applies to Mixed Drinks which they define as drinks having no more than two ingredients.
Better not accept that squeeze of lime in your gin and tonic, huh?

1. The Manager admits that multiple people have taken issue with this since they started the new Happy Hour policy and management has not done anything about it. Even though he recognizes it is an issue. I point out that he is “management” and maybe he should talk to the Owners. He had no answer to that. I ask further if he thinks this policy is sustainable or does he think that I will be coming back?
This is such a shitty attitude for a restaurant manager to take, and unfortunately I've encountered several of them. They just say "Yeah I know it's shitty" and then do nothing about the issue. Take responsibility for your bartenders mistake that he should've warned you of what their happy hour includes, offer to fix the bill, apologize for the inconvenience and move on.

Well, that's about the only thing they got right.

I've heard too many negative things about this place. I've never been and not sure I ever will on my own accord. What a joke.

Example, two places I get happy hour old fashioned from:
Cure: $6
Sala (Lakeview) $5
I do think they call them "classic cocktails"

UPDATE. They just went from 5 stars to 1. I would give them less but I can't. These idiots started advertising a new Happy Hour that includes "$5 cocktails." There is a sign at the street that says $5 cocktails and a PAINTED sign on the wall at the corner of the bar where I sat that says $5 Cocktails. I drink three well brand Bourbon Old Fashions and get the bill. $25. What the hell? Manager comes over and explains that the $5 Happy Hour only applies to "mixed drinks". I ask him what the sign that is literally a foot away says and he admits "yeah that's a problem". Yes, he deducted my bill to $15 but says the policy remains. A "mixed drink" is $5 and an actual cocktail is an upcharge even though the signage says "$5 cocktails". I can't deal with a bipolar restaurant. I am out.
Is this your review on yelp?

Provisions is the place that took over the old Galatoire's, right?
I remember when that went up. The first thing I noticed was they closed off the patio (idiotic) and I immediately thought "yeah, there's no way that place survives." Sounds like I'll end up being right on that one.

I think it's a safe bet

if I ordered a drink that wasn’t included, the bartender would always say something

not really
"mixed drink" is not a thing in bar vocabulary.
a highball is a liquor and one mixer; ie: bourbon & coke.
a cocktail is a multi-ingredient concoction; ie: old fashioned.

The happy hour old fashioned at Barrel Proof does specify Old Grand Dad

The bartender actually used the “I only work here line”
Sounds like you were dealing with a snowflake.

Can you imagine a New Orleans bar/restaurant including cocktails in their happy hour offerings and up charging an Old Fashioned?

I did run into a Happy Hour in Dallas where it was "$3 Domestics" for beer. I ordered a Shiner Bock and the guy said it wasn't on the Happy Hour. I replied that not only was it a domestic but that it was made IN TEXAS. He laughed and said something about that being an issue and gave me one for free.
Which kind of goes along with this thread. He handled it the right way. Not the giving me a beer part but the letting me know it wasn't included part.

I'd be hard pressed to name one that I goto.
That said I don't expect the full treatment on a happy hour old fashioned.

Most established places have it printed on their "happy hour" menus what's included.

So what does a coke and this mystery well bourbon normally run at? $7-8 for some well shite when it's not happy hour? Good luck Provisions, sounds like you'll need it
Posted on 8/23/19 at 11:01 am to jbgleason
I'm trying to remember the last time I was in a happy hour environment and the bartender/server didn't make me aware of the details and didn't push me to squeeze in another drink before it ended.
