We are having a party at the house and my cousin said he would cook the jambalaya if we buy the ingredients. Roughly how much do y'all think this will set me back?

Too broad of a question. Would cost me $100-120 - i use chick stock instead of water, smoke my chickens, use jacobs andouille, & several lbs of tasso.

Depends on what ratio of meat to rice he uses. As a reference, the average jambalaya is 1.5-2lbs of meat for one pound of rice. A meaty jambalaya is 3:1. Thats what i use. So for 40 people i'd use 15lbs of meat (5lbs each of chicken, pork and sausage) to 5lbs of rice.

Obviously less meat = lower cost. 40-60 bucks sounds about right to me for a 3:1 jambalaya.

A 5 gallon jambalaya should do. For this I usually use two roasts and two boxes of sausage. I cut my own seasoning. About $50-$60 roughly.

This.

A jambalaya should run you about $1.25-1.50 per person.

Link your calculator Rat.

For my five gallon pot I use 2 pork butts, 2 chickens and 5 lb box of sausage on average. Maybe more maybe a bit less depending on what I have around. I do use temple meat if I feel like driving to Lamandolas. But then again I use Zatarains par boiled rice since i have no ability to make regular long grain work so no one takes my jambalaya serious.

One 8 oz can of LEBLANC'S Cajun seasoning per five pounds of rice is all the seasoning needed, I was told this by Kim Leblanc and was unsure, but it came out perfect

His guns n roses bar b que rub is fantastic as well

You're confused by a simple meat to rice ratio yet you have a jambalaya calculator?

It would help to know what you're buying to make your product cost that high.

6-7 Guidry's (if I am being lazy and don't want to cut onions) $20 dollars.

5 1/3 quarts stock $20

5 lbs rice $10

8 lbs pork (boston butt) $20

4 lbs sausage $20 (Manda's green onion sausage)

1 lbs tasso $10 (Chris's)

Of course this price is if you don't make your own chicken stock or cut your own veggies.
