Seriously, anyone ever tried this? My job is considering ordering a few for a get together.

My inlaws used to get one every year for Thanksgiving and I loved them.
I was thinking about getting one this year, but I don't trust the Popeyes by my house enough to take a chance on pre-ordering one and them deciding to close last minute the day of pick up. Or forget to order enough birds. Or ruin it.
Our place has become a coin toss on if they will open and for what hours.

Drove right up and grabbed one, but I’m in TN so demand probably lower vs La.

They're barely fried. Think roasted turkey.
The turkeys are roasted and then briefly fried to crisp up the skin a little. Don't expect them to taste like Popeyes fried chicken or even like a turkey you fried yourself.
If you pay attention, you'll notice they don't call them fried turkeys.

Just curious, how much do they charge for their fried turkey and how much do they weigh????
I fry my own and once you buy the rig to fry them, it's just getting fresh oil when needed and most supermarkets put turkeys on sale for well under $1 a lb. before Thanksgiving.
I know I'll get at least 3 every Thanksgiving and get ones that are 13-15 lbs. each and pay less than $50 at the market----usually Rouses.
The oil can be used over later in the year if stored in a place with pretty constant temperatures so it doesn't spoil.

I think the fried turkeys at Popeyes used to be actually fried and a lot better than the product they put out now. But it's been a long time since I've had one.
I also don't trust Popeyes, as the ones by me have been complete shite since covid. Even worse than the normal pre-covid customer service. I've just stopped going. Even trying to get it ordered online or delivered is a crap shoot. They give zero fricks these days. I won't be trusting them with a Thanksgiving meal.

Last year I tried calling the local Popeyes several times to confirm they were participating and to place an order. No one ever picked up the phone. Went with a Greenberg smoked Turkey out of Tyler, TX. I got a postcard from them less than 2 weeks before Thanksgiving that their shipping facility, and all the turkeys in it, were destroyed in a fire.
Ordered from Luby’s and it was awesome.

This thread pops up every year. They aren’t fried. They are fully cooked, you defrost them and warm in the oven. You go to popeyes, pay, and take home. There is no “risk”. Pretty simple stuff

Had one once. Had to pick it it up before Thanksgiving. No crisp. No flavor. Long time ago though.

Winn-Dixie is selling Honeysuckle brand turkeys for $.39 a lb. and Rouses is giving one away, up to 16 lbs. if you buy a Cure 81 Spiral Sliced Ham.

Greensberg turkeys are legit. We got them for a couple of years back in the day.

Yeah, so they don't fry them anymore. I just assumed they were like they used to be 10 years ago until I found out the hard way.
Basically they're just seasoned with Popeyes seasoning, but roasted. Had one last year and it was OK at best.
