RIP Sucker's
if the owner would have taken his head out of his arse before deciding on a location, we would probably still have suckers
Horrible location no doubt, but that had little to do with the demise of suckers and the owner

That area around Sherwood had 4 of our go to places at one time. Podnuh's, Brew-Bacher's, Piccadilly & Ground Patti which was my fav.
Picc & Podnuh's are all that's left, and they're both are terrible now.

I think they disowned the sherwood location. It's not even listed in the "Locations" tab of their website if it's the same place.

Yep, at Firehouse all they have on the top of the roof is 'BBQ' written in huge letters. The only reason I stopped there myself was because I came across it on Urbanspoon and saw that it had great reviews. Only after I went inside did I find out the entire name was Firehouse BBQ. I'm telling ya, they have the whole briskets wrapped in foil and when you order, she takes it out and slices it and the juices run out, it's just awesome.

I tried the one at Bluebonnet/Perkins a couple times, and thought it was decent enough for the price (though the 2nd time was a bit worse than the first). Went a 3rd time because some friends wanted to go and it was terrible, so that was it for me. I think I'm down to Sonny's as my only go to BBQ in BR since the last couple times I got Pimanyoli's it was a dry tasteless mess.

Unfortunate. I think Sucker's would have done very well in another location.
I guess sometimes life demands you GTFO of town.

Very nice people that have Pimanyoli's but I've never been a fan of their BBQ, and lately it seems some of their other menu items are not as good as they used to be.

Pass the Sherwood Podnuhs location twice a day for 30 years..
I think I have eatten there twice.
Sausage tasted funny, chicken was dry, everything had an odd flavor to me..
But its been 15 years or so since I tried it..
I'd take Sonny's anyday over Podnuhs

- it's disappointing because the first time I went it was pretty good, but it was worse every time after that. The last time everything was dry and almost no smoke flavor. It's amazing that there is no legit BBQ joint in BR.

I'm not sure how the Podnuh's is down there. There are a couple of good one's in Shreveport-Bossier, but there is one on North Market that sucks.
I alwasy get brisket though. I'm not sure if they have a buffet. Which are risky. I love Johnny's but I don't expect too much from their buffet.

Jay's on Sherwood isn't much better.
Stay away from their BBQ, the poboys are were it's at. Also a good hamburger.

I concur.
I love Jay's, but their BBQ beans are downright nasty and their sausage is really unusual tasting, but I actually crave it from time to time.

I know...You see all these places on the DDD show, and it looks like they're really working hard at putting out tasty BBQ...I don't guess any place in BR wants to put the time & effort into making good BBQ.

Best BBQ in the BR area is on the days Bergeron's serves it in Lobdell.
Wed: Ribs
Sat: BBQ Plate
Excellent imo
