I forgot to add, in my opinion.

But I hear you man. I've been to cookouts/get-togethers where someone brought Richard's boudin, or Rouses boudin...and I think Poche's is 1000x's better than those. But to each his own.

I've literally never heard someone describe Kartchner's boudin as rice and gravy in a casing until now. Lol. I'd call statement wildly inaccurate but hey, every man is entitled to their opinion.

I would never even try Rouses boudin LMAO, that's got to be trash

I stick with the staples. Kartchner's, Don's, Best Stop, Nunu's, Janise's

I really wish it wasn't so but it is. Bigly.

If you're ever in Port Barre get yourself some Bourque's. Fantastic.

Been going to Poches for the better part of 40 yrs, not much has changed. It’s country folk food. Their boudin is old school with chunks of liver and pork parts. Not my favorite but I like it for what it is, reminds me of Eunice Superette. Worst on the planet award goes to Zummos.

The plate lunches are solid, but the boudin and sweet dough pies (way too much allspice) are meh

Someone recently posted pics here of some of the plate lunches, and they looked fantastic.

Apparently it should be Michelin starred

It's the only boudin I've ever spit out and thrown away after one bite. Tried it again a year later and figured the first time was just a fluke or a bad batch. Spit it out and threw it away in the trashcan right outside their door just like the first time. Garbage

This is such a weird flex lol

I have gotten so, so, so wasted at wedding receptions in their little dining reception hall.

But yeah, the food is tip top

I never understood the love for it.

I've tried it many times, but I've never had Kartchner's and thought it was good, at all.
And as for Poche's.. I went in the store once, and the store smelled so bad, I turned around and left.

Worst boudin on the planet

No its not. Their boudin used to be some of the best around.

The plate lunches are great;

Pork Backbone Stew
Smothered Rabbit
Shrimp & Tasso fettuccini
Stuffed Pork Chops
Crawfish Etouffee
etc.

with many side dishes, rice dressing or rice & gravy

Their frozen rice dressing mix is the best one I’ve found.

The crawfish dressing at Poche's is delicious!
