re: Places to avoid in NOLA if you hate dogs

I never claim dog " haters" to be miserable, but when you come on here calling dog owners idiots and such that is type of responses you gonna get. If its not your thing it's not your thing I really don't care. But this city lives life at its own unique speed and plenty of people and places could care less about somebody with a dog coming into a business. Not that big of an issue to let it ruin a good time or refuse business to a quality customer.

Serious question: have you ever owned a pet?
Not my own dog. But I've lived with dogs, and grew up with parents owning dogs.

And have you always hated dogs? Why do you hate dogs? Were the dogs you lived with well-behaved?

Not the same with dogs. Most people don't mind them if they're well behaved.
That's how smoking started. Hopefully dogs take the same path.

No. Just lacking in psychological development and well being.
So now my well being is lacking because I don't love dogs?
I'll never understand how dog owners get SOOOOO defensive. It's an amazing social phenomenon.

Not that amazing for self-actualized human beings. As was said by Agnes Turnbull, "Dog's lives are too short. Their only fault, really."

I only started that when I was attacked for being miserable/psychologically inept/incompassionate/etc.

The part where someone said I just had to deal with being inconvenienced, but he couldn't be inconvenienced?

how does a dog that is sitting quietly on the other side of a patio from you inconvenience you?

Why should I have to alter my bar habits because some idiot that can't be separated from his dog has to go there and bring it?
This looks like where this topic went from FDB discussion to an OT.

One was very well behaved. The other was not.
Never liked them. I wouldn't say I hate dogs, but have no desire to own one or play with one.

Was that before or after you said I just had to go to a different place that day because you didn't feel like going out of your way to drop your dog off?

Yep, anyone not a dog lover and defnder must automatically be stupid.
That's not at all what I said. You believe, based on what you've written that no one should bring a dog to any establishment at which YOU may want to be eating or drinking in spite of the fact that the owners welcome it. Your demands are flawed. You should be arguing with the owners of the establishments you cherish who allow dogs, not the dog owners. They aren't breaking any rules. Neither are the owners, but they have made a business decision. Find a place that doesn't allow dogs. There are plenty of those around. Far less establishments allow it, with the exception of canine companions for the disabled with which you'll simply have to deal.

So why the public outrage over bars that allow smoking? If you don't like smoke, don't go to the bars that allow it. No need to pass laws
banning it; just don't go.
I couldn't agree more. I have no problem with bars that allow smoking. I have a choice to go to those or choose a bar that doesn't allow it of which there are plenty, especially those associated with restaurants. Of course, the reasons this law has support are that there are studies indicating that passive smoking is a danger to others. I haven't read any studies that dogs, in general, pose a danger to others. I have, however, read some that indicate pet owners live longer, among other things.
Which bars/restaurants do you go to or would you like to go to that allow dogs? Do you have a favorite?

This sounds the same as how you dress to eat. For some reason, people get bent out of shape over what people wear out to eat. Seems like their issue should be with the owner, not the patron.

Apparently it doesn't matter. I just need to avoid any outside area where someone could possibly bring their dog, because it's too much trouble to drop it off. Inconsiderate dog owners.

The idiot dog owner comment was 1st. And you must have missed the point of this entire topic, I was looking for dog friendly places. Places where it is common to have a dog. The bar I went to had more than one dog in it when I got there. So you would have never even been there.

You just don't get it do you? Either that or you really just want to argue
