I saw this question asked on a travel forum and a lady from Boston ripped the OP for asking about bringing his dog to dog friendly restaurants in Savannah. She said folks with dog allergies should not have to suffer from folks that brought their pets to the place. Oh well.

This makes no sense. You can only bring your dogs to outdoor patios anyway for health board reasons, so this woman should either not sit on the patio or get the hell over it. It's outdoors. There's very little chance she's having some allergic reaction to a dog outdoors. If so, sit inside.

NOLA has plenty of places where dogs are welcomed inside the bar.

Pretty sure City Bark has a waiting list to become a member.

Plenty of bars in NOLA are cool with letting you bring your dog inside. IMO its just another one of those things that gives this place character that other cities lack.

If you got a problem with dogs don't go to places that are dog friendly, there is a lot of unfriendly places.

Why should I have to alter my bar habits because some idiot that can't be separated from his dog has to go there and bring it?

I don't smoke inside most bars because I know it bothers people.

Worse rebuttal I've ever seen on td.com.

You are. It's still worse than any I've seen on the OT.

First of all, there are way more bars that don't allow dogs than there are bars that do. So it really shouldn't be that hard to avoid ones that let them in.

Also.. your argument doesn't make sense. Just because YOU specifically choose not to smoke in bars out of respect for others doesn't diminish the fact that there are smoking-friendly bars. And if someone doesn't like being around smoke, they should know.. don't go to a bar that allows smoking.

For some reason there are only two kinds of people who insist on bringing their dogs everywhere. One, upper class yuppies with too much time on their hands. Two, gutter punks. Now these two types of people have absolutely nothing else in common except for this bizarre need to bring their dogs along in public places.

Now the gutter punks have a good reason; the dogs are there to guard their stash while they're not looking. The yuppies though? Still trying to figure that out.

It all started with Paris Hilton bringing her little chiwawas everywhere in her big arse purse. Yuppie see, Yuppie do...

I see dogs in Finn's from time to time. Also that restaurant, right where Magazine turns into a one way street and you have to take a left if you are heading downtown. There is a place right there.

I'll sell my spot if tru, I rarely ever go. Its worth the $32 a year, but now that there is one in Lafrenere I don't need to go that far anymore with my dog.

I'm neither a yuppie or a gutter punk but started this topic b/c it was so nice outside Sunday I'd figure I would take my dog out to the Fly to meet up with some friends. After spending time at the Fly we decided to go hit up a couple of bars and rather than go out of my way to bring my dog home it was easier to just bring him. Lots of places are cool with dogs in the area so I didn't think it was a big issue, plus the dog makes for one hell of a wing man. What I didn't realize is how many people have issue with this on this board. For those people I recommend you stay away from a lot of places on Magazine St on nice sunny days b/c you might find yourself in an establishment with a few dogs.

So it's ok for you to inconvenience others, but not so good for you to be inconvenienced?

At least now we all know you're selfish.

Update to add a third group: inconsiderate people that can't be inconvenienced.

How is the presence of a dog inconvenient to you? Is the dog humping your leg or drooling on you? I don't get why people even care about this.

I've been places before where the dog was roaming around, walking past us and our table, under the table, etc.

The owner just thought it was cute, as did the girls at the table next to him that he was trying to impress with his o so cool dog.

But back to your question:

quote:

How is the presence of a dog inconvenient to you?

It might not be inconveniencing me with the dog there (but sometimes it is, above example). But he just suggested not going to certain places because dogs might be there. That certainly is an inconvenience, if I have to avoid places I would normally go because dogs are there.

You know what makes less sense? People wanting to bring their mutts when the go out to eat. Go to Sonic. We don't all want to deal with your dog anymore than you want to deal with our kids...

I dont get this either, I bring my dog to a bar that has a freaking water bowl for dogs and now I'm an inconsiderate yuppie gutter punk. Guess its better than being an internet messages board jackass.

ETA: Also note I came here asking for places that are DOG FRIENDLY instead of just going to random places with a dog that might not be dog friendly.
