those arent pizza. Chicago style is fantastic but it is NOT pizza. it is in the same category as Lasagna. Why cant people understand this.?

Thin soft > deep dish > pan > regular > thin crispy

The average person prefers NY style.

That being said, I prefer Chicago style. I would guess there's a direct correlation to how much you like calzones and pastas to whether or not you prefer deep dish.

Portnoy did it after that guy, i am pretty sure. But has kept it running for a lot longer (400+, think he's getting close to 450+)

Thin for day to day, but having deep dish hungover and starving in Chicago was definitely the best pizza experience I've had.

No joke it depends on how hungry I am often.

If I'm normal hungry, thin or traditional

If I'm starving and want the carbs, I'll go for traditional or deep

I don't usually do Deep dish by choice however

All pizza is good pizza. But my favorite type is Ohio-style (despite my never having been to Ohio) pizza made by a place called Cassano's. Thin crust but not cracker-like (looking at you St. Louis), and toppings to the edge, cut in squares. Not a fan of the toppings here, but this is pretty representative:

It's good pizza.

There's such a misconception of Chicago pizza. Yes, the stuffed and deep dish are popular but for folks who actually live there, it's the mom and pop pizza places who serve thin crust pizza that is the favorite.

A nice square-cut, ultra thin from Chicago beats the shite out of anything from NYC.

I like a good deep dish pizza (simple, not too many toppings) but I love a NY style thin crust pizza. Pizza is more about the sauce, the cheese, the right pepperoni to me. The crust needs to be good but it is the medium to me.

I went this past summer and wasn't impressed in the least. It tasted too processed for me. Almost like a frozen pizza.

Didn't get to try either because I unknowingly went during the marathon and I wasn't going to wait in those crazy lines.

I did have deep dish at Pizanos which was great.

I typically enjoy NY style but am a lover of pizza in general as long as it's good.

They could really cook it just a tiny bit more so the point doesn't flop down when you pick it up.

One complements the other. When you have that thin soggy New York Style pizza, there isn't any room for the other 2 parts because it slides off the pizza much less any generous toppings. While I can admit Chicago style can be a tad much for some but you cant have wimpy soggy bread. If the crust isnt 1/2 inch thick and mostly stand firm when held out straight, its shitty pizza.

what the frick
