Outback. They have a decent steak that is consistently decent quality.
Never been to Bonefish
Carrraba's is one small step above Olive Garden, which is the worst restaurant in the world.

Bonefish Grill one time on a gift card. Got the special, it was swordfish covered with cheddar cheese sauce, just plain awful. My fault, I didn't read the description closely enough.
Carraba'a has been OK.

15 or so years ago, Outback did indeed have a decent steak. A family member was quite involved in the business, so I dined there often (and often in brand new restaurants). Fast forward a decade plus, and it's moved downmarket quite a bit. I rec'd a gift card last year around this time, popped into the one in Gonzales, looking forward to a strip. What a disappointment---the floors were greasy to the point of being slippery, the booths were worn and tatty, even the table cards for dessert & drinks were worn & fraying at the edges. Steak was tough (though not over cooked); someone else at the table ordered the seared tuna app (dumb choice, but it wasn't me) and it was on par with a rural southern supermarket's attempts at sushi.
If regifting isn't an option, you can sit at the bar at Bonefiah & drink it up. The key lime pie at Bonefish is pretty good, too.

They really aren't that great either and I tend to avoid national chains. That said, I woke up with a hankering for prime rib so outback might be the winner.

I was just never raised going to national chain restaurants and that's stayed with me into adulthood. BR has some fine restaurants for steak, seafood, or pasta that I frequent, and going to one of these three national chains just doesn't excite me, and I've been to all of them before. It's just been years.
It's mostly the Wal-Mart clientele that visits these places that turns me off. But I think lunch will be okay and I'm locked onto prime rib at outback at the moment.

Go to Bonefish and have drinks and apps at the bar. Bang Bang Shrimp, ceviche, crab cakes are all serviceable, and you can get some decent drinks.

They just aren't all that good. And you can find lot's of great places that aren't considered even close to being fancy if you are in a good food town.
I got re-gifted a damn Cracker Barrel gift card last week. Kind of aggravated me because my wife took the time to pick out a few nice gifts for a friend couple of ours that were in from out of town and I know they just grabbed a card that had in the car that they probably had with them for the road trip.
I'm not going to pout about it though. When we head out of town with the kids on our next trip, it will make for a good breakfast stop.

Exactly. BR is a serviceable food town, and has several restaurants I frequent that I wouldn't consider fancy like: Little Saigon, Bay Leaf, City Pork (on Jefferson), Palermo Restaurante, and Beausoleil.
They all make good food and range from very casual to business casual. Hardly fancy.

Bonefish is actually the worst of the three despite what I perceive as a reputation otherwise.
