Some pretty pretentious folks in this thread for an LSU message board.

Bonefish and Carrabas are just fine for a simple casual meal. Plenty of good items on both menus. I'm personally not a fan of Outback - you could probably get a better steak at the other two.

The article that was posted here about restaurants lying about their fish and using low quality seafood will keep me away from entrees at Bonefish, although I've always enjoyed their mussels.

Carrabas is probably your best bet.

If your GF doesn't want to go, grab a buddy, go to Outback, watch a bowl game at the bar, get some beers and some appetizers.

If she wants to go and that's not her thing...

I am not a fan of Bonefish Grill at all, and I find $50 won't get you far at Carraba's. So, just take her to Outback , get a drink, get an onion mum, get an outback special with a potato and a salad, and call it a day.

It's $50 in free food. Outback isn't worth $50 in cash... but you could certainly find something serviceable... for free.

I don't look down on people who go to these restaurants. They just aren't my first choice to frequent, and many times it has nothing to do with the food.

Not sure why you replied to me, I just posted a picture of a blooming onion. I have actually been the target of ridicule on this board because I like the Golden Corral in my neighborhood.

I also have an Outback in my neighborhood about 1 1/2 miles past the Golden Corral. I like it alot also, they have great tortilla soup(better than my Mexican place), the amazingly awesome blooming onion and decent steak. I usually get the prime rib at Outback. The Alice Springs chicken is very popular with others. I haven't tried it yet but plan to one day.

I think people either need to move to better places or just quit going out to eat. I am pretty non-assuming and live in a good neighborhood. I don't really pay attention to people who are not with me at a restaurant. As long as someone doesn't have a repulsive smell that I can smell at my table or is really loud I could care less about them.

I was just responding in general. The OP is being a drama queen about a free gift card.

Never been there... but if you are in Katy, have you ever gone to Rocco's on Fry a bit south of Kingsland?

When we were househunting there in 2005, we ended up visiting two places to eat, rather randomly... just were driving around and saw interesting hole in the wall places. One was the original El Rancho on Fry and Saums, the other was Rocco's. Enjoyed them both the first time, and visited many of times while we lived there. Wife taught at Taylor and Rocco's would employ a bunch of HS students from there, so she was always seeing her former students working (she taught freshmen). Good food, good prices.

GF Zombie and I went to Outback on Jones Creek for 11:45 AM. When we pulled in the parking lot, we thought the place was closed. There were maybe 2-3 cars in the parking lot and tons of construction in front of the restaurant. Great sign.

We walked in and hostess was very nice and seated us. We were one of two couples at Outback for lunch.





I had my heart set on prime rib, and of course they didn't have it. Settled for a 10 oz ribeye (medium rare), side of broccoli, and sautéed mushrooms. GF had a burger and side salad.



Steak looked okay. Very thin and not much of a chair. Probably a "select" cut of meat. Can't see this being Choice. Broccoli and shrooms were good.



Steak was overdone. More on the medium side but it was so thin the odds of it being medium rare were slim.

Bill came out to $40. Tipped our waitress, who was very friendly, $10 and left the remaining $9 on the GC for her. Figured it would buy her lunch.

I'd be lying if I said the meal was bad, but it was very forgettable and I'd never go back to spend my actual money there. Being how dead it was, I'm surprised they are even open.
