y'all do know that the two locations in Ascension Parish are still open, right? There's one in Prarieville on Airline across from the super wal-mart and one in Gonzales on 30 @ Purpera.

Didn't even know there were other locations.

I've never been to Philly Me Up. I think I'll try that place today.

but that’s good to know that they aren’t out of business

I probably ate at Sherwood once a week

I've had South of Philly in Prairieville recently. I got nothing negative to say about it. Thought it was a great philly cheese steak, but i just prefer Philly Me Up.

It's the cheese that makes the sandwich. A good melted white american cheese.
I've tried a few of the other specialty sandwiches at Philly Me Up, but i love a simple meat/cheese/onions/peppers/mushrooms philly cheese steak.

Philly is a dump, but there are some good places to eat. Reading Terminal Market is a bit touristy, but it's a good place to graze.

Tulsa had a place alongside I-40 that was velveeta knock-off philly shop. Hamburger, bell/onion/tomatoes, and velveeta on a hoagie roll. Wasn't bad.

All outdoor round concrete table and curved concrete benches for seats. Of course being windy Tulsa, wasn't a whole lotta days they could actually put the umbrellas up at the tables. They eventually added some indoor seating too.

They did a booming lunch business. All walk-up, no drive thru.

Have to say. It was pretty bomb. I’ll be back.

Not a fan of the o rings, but that’s okay.

There is a chain type place that opened near me called Charley's or something like that. Any of yall ever been?

I would say what is pretty damn good is to find the philly steak at your local grocery store. Its shaved and portioned and probably comes in a box. Throw that bad boy on the flat top, do your veggies, cheese, and boom. Very easy and good.

Probably too late, but if you are driving through go to John's Roast Pork. It's right off of I-95 and parking is easy.
It's the best in Philly in my opinion.
They don't have cheese wiz and trust me don't order it unless you want to see the Philly attitude in full force. Lol.

If anybody knows the provolone they use up there help me out. Very sharp. I have tried every type at Publix and Kroger deli.

I went the summer before last. Jim's on South Street was the best I had followed by John's Roast Pork.

But I think the best Philly sandwich is the Italian roast pork with broccoli rabe and smoked provolone.

I'll second this suggestion. Dinic's.
