You can whip up whipped cream if you prefer. But for this cheap delicious pie, cool whip suffices. Bonus points if you use chocolate Oreo or Graham cracker crust.

Just made a couple. I made the mistake of adding everything to the mixer off the bat and it made a powdered sugar clump up a little. Nothing a shot of whole milk couldn't fix.

They're poured and in the freezer.

Great recipe.

I just discovered that Keebler makes a pretzel crust pie shell. Anyone tried that?

I also was running on top little sleep and did this.

Just ran the mixer flat out until It worked enough air back into it to be fluffy.

My son probably ate an entire cup of the whipped filling

I haven’t, but give it a try. I will if I find it.

It’s one of those pies you can’t really mess up as long as correct ingredients/measurements. (Kinda like a green bean artichoke casserole that’s made in layers. Why? Mix it up and top with extra bread crumbs and done.)

Even then… I make and give so many away this time of year that sometimes when I triple the recipe I’ll forget to triple one ingredient and it still turns out good.

I would definitely add a layer of caramel on the bottom, then the peanut butter filling and top with chocolate- a Take5 pie

Hoo boy, good idea. At what point are we guilding the Lilly though? I remember a great grandmother from SC making basic PB pie and thinking it was the best thing that wasn’t meat. But now we have 30 versions with more accoutrements.

We're making 2 of these, thanks TD FDB! I'm so much more excited for this than the typical Thanksgiving desserts that I never eat.

Just made this. I, too, just dumped everything in at the same time, but the kitchaid stand mixer made short work of it.
Followed the recipe closely, but used more peanut butter.
I think the pie crusts I got must have been bigger. This recipe would not have made 2 pies worth, so I just made one REALLY FULL pie. Chopped up 4 peanut butter cups, into the freezer. Really excited about this for tomorrow.

Question: Why freeze? Would the filling not solidify in the fridge? Anyway…Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

That’s just the way it was taught to me and we enjoy it that way. I’m sure keeping in the fridge is fine, it may be preferable to some. I think it would be a little more gooey, but shouldn’t affect the taste. The recipe makes 2 pies, next time I may do one in the freezer and one in the fridge.

It’s so easy to make and hard to screw up. There have been several suggestions/variations on this thread that all sound good to me and that I plan to try sometime. Chocolate ganache, caramel, pretzel crust, etc…

It’s for sure easier to cut when frozen. It also removes the need for ice cream.

The pretzel crust was a hit. I shaved and grated some dark chocolate with a hint of sea salt (in the chocolate, not sprinkled by itself) on top. It was a hit.

Although one girl had her slice with more cool whip AND ice cream. Good luck with that child later.

Just to show there's one in every crowd, I made these last year and my wife did not like it. Who knows why.

Knocked 12 out this afternoon in about an hour. I’ll probably do another 12 later in the week.

Bumping..

I had bookmarked this thread to remind me about these. My wife just put two of these in the freezer and brought me the spoon to “clean” for her. Dang that stuff is dangerous!
