Man, I really wish the bar thing could work for me. I still do it from time to time, but I really hate sweets. When I'm hungry, a chocolate or berry flavored item is the last thing I want. I wish they came in hamburger flavor
I'll usually get the peanut butter (no chocolate) ones, but even that is pushing it.

You should try the Kind "Strong" bars. Thai Chili, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Honey Mustard, Roasted Jalapeno, etc. Check 'em out: LINK
Locally, I've seen them at Target, but WalMart seems to only carry the sweet ones.

I recently changed my eating habits and started lifting again. I credit both for my changes. I wanted to have a more healthy intake and was looking at natural vitamins. Eventually, while researching them I said screw it and decided to juice my vitamins. Now I buy local organic veggies to juice and drink my breakfast.
I quit sugar and carbs for the most part. No sodas, only water, milk, coffee, and unsweet tea. I do a lot of eggs, boil a dozen every few days and bring them to work for a snack. I eat great stuff I love and stay full, but avoid the sweets and carbs. I eat nuts, peanut butter, salads, a ton of veggies. I crave more veggies as I go I think. But I don't go hungry.
I've lost 10lbs in a month while lifting and eating plenty of protein. I've had many comments about me working out etc... so people can see the difference. I'm 6' and went from 189 to 179 btw.
I love my green juice in the mornings. Here is a weeks worth that I washed. I vary it some depending on what's available, but this is most of my stuff.

These can change from moment to moment, so I wouldn't put much stock into them.

I gave up sweets, sodas (was just drinking diet drinks) and decided to run at least a mile every day during Lent. Once Easter came, I decided to keep it up. Today marks the 80th straight day of running at least a mile (actual average is 4.5875 miles per day, but who's counting?). I can count on one hand the number of sweets I've had since Easter, and most of those were just to be polite by having a slice of pie or cake at a family gathering. Still haven't had any soft drinks.
I weighed 192 on Mardi Gras day. This morning the scale read 172.
I certainly haven't given up beer. A quick glance of the FBD threads will show that, yes, it's possible to lose weight and still be able to drink double IPAs. But I'm also much more cognizant of what and how much I eat. Staying away from the sweets has helped, but paying more attention to sugar in general has been big. It's amazing how much sugar is in many foods when you start reading labels more.
Diet is important. Exercise is important. The combination will really do you wonders. I'm back to feeling much better too.

Try Epic Bars. The bison and beef are pretty good.

Absolutely the best way. Congrats.
ETA: How did I get a down vote?

I never was a big drinker, but when I had one or two, it is either bourbon/scotch on the rocks, or a Tito's martini.

Don't eat blue bell ice cream it's loaded with high fructose corn syrup...there are other brands out there that are better for you

Giving up sweets was easy, never was a big sweets fan, other than cakes.

That's good stuff.
I started ideal protein recently. Down 9 pounds in 11 days. I know it's not a long term deal so just going to hit it hard for four weeks.
Giving up alcohol has been the hardest part, but that is probably the best thing in regards to my results

Nicely done! I'm 3 months in to low carb, down 20lbs, going to the Dr on Thursday- eager to see my bloodwork come back- hope it's as improved as yours was! No exercise, just cutting out carbs and trying to eat cleaner- limit artificial sweeteners and colors, paying more attention to the foods I buy like free range, grain fed eggs, eat more avocado and other super foods, and other healthier changes.

I could eat my weight in avocados!!! Costco seems to carry the largest ones in BR. I think they are $4 for 5 avocados.

I love them, too. Never thought to just keep them around the house until we got serious doing low carb- stuff them with tuna salad, chicken salad, or just eat them with a little salt, pepper and balsamic vinaigrette. The Kroger by my house has them on sale often, so I'll buy 4-5 at a time
