I think not being an AG store in BR hurts them a bit

Baton rudge area needs better managers apparently.

They must pay them shite because it's like dealing with Popeyes workers at the Jefferson location

The Rouses I've been to in Slidell, Houma, and Laffy all seemed to be pretty well run stores. No complaints.
The pic in the OP is disgusting.

Very strange how well they seem to do everywhere except the Baton Rouge area
I have my own theories about this. I think its a combo of people who really miss LeBlanc's and salty folks with ties to Associated Grocers.
I don't go to Rouses that often, cuz they aren't that convenient to where I work and live. But I've always thought they had high quality meat and deli items. The beer selection could use a little work -- although the Drusilla location is very, very good. For the most part, their prices are good, although you need to be careful at the hot bar.

I live very close, so I give that store way too many chances. Last time I bought pork chops, they smelled rancid. The best buy date was a few days away so I decided to grill them anyway, thinking the seasoning and heat would cure the chops. They tasted like crap. I threw all of them in the trash. Wasted my time and money and ended up eating a sandwich.
Also, I find their chicken prices are too high. Boneless skinless breasts are over $3/lb when albertsons usually has the for half that price. Thighs are at least $2/lb.

It turns out we were 100% correct. Rouses is horrible in every way.
I mean, except for all the stores in the NOLA area, north shore, apparently Youngsville too, being good stores. Sure, you were 100% correct.

This. I've never had problems with the meat at the one in Prairieville. As a matter of fact I've had some really delicious steaks from there but it could be the cook too so idk
My liquor guy(Marvin) there is very helpful as well. Always saves me some hard to find crafts

Yep. The Leblancs on Drusilla was much better than Rouses.
The rumor is that they are expanding so rapidly to attract a bigger store to buy them out. I hope it's true.

You're finding boneless/skinless breast for $1.50? Are you buying 200lbs at a time?

Gotta be buying frozen. $3 for fresh is not a bad price at all.

Right now boneless skinless breasts at Albertsons are $1.99/lb. It does get below $1.50 and I'll buy about 10 lbs to freeze.

Since we are piling on Rouses, I just bought a prepared salad from them for lunch at the former LeBlancs in Gonzales.
The expiration day wasn't for another week, but the croutons were soggy and the shredded carrots had a coating of slime over them and smelled like they had been pickled.
Never again.
