Friend,
Were you the poster who wrote in Greek in the days of the Lair? If so, I always enjoyed reading what you wrote.

P.S. The best Baton Rouge restaurant memories I have come from Chalet Brandt. It was as good a restaurant as any New Orleans has ever had. The cream sauces and homemade ice cream were exceptional.

What was the name of that pizza place on Staring that was open in the early 90s? Kind of around where Popeye’s is. It was a local joint, not a chain.

"Jim"s" famous for fried chicken long before fast food places took it over. Located on the corner of Carrollton and Earhart where, ironically, a Popeyes now sits.
"T. Pittari's" was located on Claiborne near Napoleon Ave. and served some pretty exotic meat on their menu----ostrich, elephant, tiger, etc. back in the 60's.

Speaking of salad dressing, if anyone knows how make The Chimes Tabasco Raspberry vinaigrette, I’d be grateful

I think truly the best restaurant ever to operate in Baton Rouge that represented dining in a cultural sense. At least I never ate in any better. But visiting Baton Rouge when I was growing up usually involved LSU and relatives, so the only other restaurants we used to patronize were the Village (best marinara ever) and LaFonda's. I forgot Diane's in Brusly!

Correct.
Did you post? Who did you post as, if you don't mind my asking.

Some favorites from my LSU days (late 70's):
Pete 'N Tillie's - double stack pizza
Bono's Pizza
'Round the Corner - Order on a phone at each table
The Library - Home of the Library Special (roast beef on a muffuletta)
Blimpie
Pedro's - best alternative w/o a Taco Tico.

Early 90’s Pasta Garden in BR
That family published a cookbook, "Anyone Can Cook The Italian Way' by Giovanni Mucciacciaro. Had recipes from both Pasta Garden and Giovannis. You can see the cover of it on Amazon, but its out of print. I saw one float up on Ebay years ago and grabbed it! Still love the Crawfish Giovanni.

Sure wish someone had the recipes from Mickeys Golden Nugget, and Uncle Ben's Fried Chicken - both in that middle corridor on Nicholson Drive
