Grew up in Metry and definitely miss my high school classmate and good friend Chef Bingo who worked as the head chef at the following establishments: Bulls Corner, Cuvee', Windsor Court, Delmonico's, NOLA, and lastly the Carriage House in Jackson, MS. Richard was, and still is an amazing chef. He moved to New Zealand several years ago since that's where his wife is from. She supported Bingo chasing his dream of 30 yrs opening fine dining restaurants. At age 52, he said "F it" I'm moving down under so my wife can spend the remaining years with her parents and siblings. His teenage boys are playing Australian Rules Football and kicking arse
Yeah You Right

In my 36 years (whole life save 3 years for school out of state) in BR Giamanco’s!
Oh they’re cannelonis and manicottis. The perfect sensation with sliced avocados. The lemon meringue pie. Twice baked potatoes
Jack’s Grill
Dajenels (sp)
Ruby’s
Really going back
Shoney’s
Danvers

Yes....yes it was. Best steak in BTR at the time. Was right on Airline by Old Hammond.
Giamancos was my favorite. That was always first choice for my birthday dinner.
Add the following:
Europes
Little Italy for pizza (Europes owner's brother)
The Village
Mirror Steak House

Chicago’s Steakhouse on Government. I think that’s where it was.

Calendar’s. We used to eat there after football games in high school. I could crush a Plantation Salad right now. They must have put crack in it or something
Owners now run the catering/food service in LSU suites.

A couple not mentioned yet
Vince Sotiles by the Sunshine Bridge-lunchtime lingere shows (his daughter was often one of the models)
John Folse’s place across the highway
The various iterations of speakeasy level restaurants in the Kenilworth shopping center where Superior is now. The people you might see together in there…
Chelsea’s (under the overpass)
Chelsea’s Street Pub in Bon Marche-nachos and pitchers of beer before hitting the disco clubs

Back in high school, Semolina’s in Mandeville used to be the place you would take a date to when you wanted to really “impress” her.
I used to really like Kenny Rogers Roasters in Slidell. I’ll never forget walking in and seeing the giant rotisserie cooking all those chickens over a wood fire.
Shoney’s and Piccadilly in Covington used to be solid places to go to for a decent meal without breaking the bank. Shoney’s breakfast buffet was awesome.

If we're going back to specific dishes in time, ya gotta mention Hawk's Nest for the remoulade and a few other entrees.

Yes it was. The Shoney's in my hometown had one at midnight on Fridays and it was money after a night of drinking!

As an LSU student in the early 80s my post game dinner date was always at Godfather’s Pizza on College Drive.
If my date was also an LSU student that meant my whole evening cost under $20. Pretty sweet for a poor college boy.
