Anyone ever use one on here? If so how was it compared to frying with oil? Taste? Etc?

Big Easy owner here. Best thing to happen to turkey since gravy. You won't regret it at all.

Thinking about buying one. Really different than an oven?

Yes, the butterball is worse. Don't get it. The Big Easy is just a gas oven. Tastes nothing like fried turkey.

No crispy skin, no fried juicy white meat, take two hrs to do 16# bird. Gave mine away after 3 disappointing birds, back to peanut oil for me .

I don't get how anyone can so emphatically say it doesn't taste like a fried turkey, no crispy skin, not juicy, etc. Something was done wrong during preparation if this was your experience with the Big Easy. I just got one a few weeks ago and ran a few test cooks for the Ole Miss game. Defrost, inject, rub outside with peanut oil and rub in some seasoning. I've had crispy skin, juicy meat and no hassle of dealing with the oil. Maybe it's user error??

Love mine and everything I've done on it has come out great. Turkey, prime rib, ribs, etc... turkey tastes just as good if not better than fried without the added calories or mess.

Orion Cooker works well. It uses charcoal, it's less than $150 bucks and pretty well, made. Have had luck with a lot of different foods but this will be the first turkey.

Done chickens, turkeys and hung a pork loin in it once. It is a good tool that cooks good meat.

Keeps the oven free for other items.

It tastes nothing like a bird that has been dipped in oil. It's not user error, that's just the way it is. Fried bird is unhealthy goodness and yes it is a mess. This is easier and a lot healthier, but it's more like an oven bird than a fried one. It's not bad, but it will never be a fried turkey.

Definitely worth if for $59

As mentioned it's basically a round oven. I like mine.

I used mine 2-3 times and then it sat in my garage for 4 years collecting dust. I finally cleaned out garage and put it out by the road. Not a fan.

Had mine for two years and love it. Everything in it is great. I found that injecting the turkey and leaving it in the fridge uncovered dries the skin and it gets crispy brown.

I haven't done a turkey yet, but I've done a few chickens and they all turned out delicious. If prepped right you can definitely still get crispy skin and juicy meat.

I mean, it won't be exactly the same because you're eliminating 4 gallons of oil but to say it's more like an oven bird is just not true. I've baked injected turkeys before and it's really annoyingly tough to get crispy skin. Plus the Big Easy frees up our oven for other stuff. The oil pain in the arse just isn't worth it anymore for me and my cholesterol.

It's a good device.

Turkeys come out good, but it's not the same as deep frying.

They key as others have said is to make sure you get your birds nice and dry and rub them down with a light coat of oil.

I use mine for whole chickens, wings, roasts, pork tenderloins, etc. I usually throw in some potatoes in the bottom. Best baked potato you can make at home.
