Many of us have our minds on the impending hurricane, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up about the next F&DB cooking challenge.

A thread will open up for submissions on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at or about 9:00 a.m. Entries must be submitted by 9:00 p.m. If you'd like to enter, but think you won't be near a computer on that day, email them to me ahead of time. I've forgotten my exact TD email address, so I will update later. Or I will wait for someone to ask.

For a valid submission, you need at least one picture of your rib dish and a general description of your process, plus ingredients. OR you could give a precise recipe. Your choice.

A separate thread for voting will open up after submission deadline.

Sweet, time to break out the sous vide.

Semi-trolling, but serious. Probably going to smoke, sous vide, and finish with a pepper jelly glaze.

I'm thinking ribs with a flavorful Vienna Sausage and sweet pickle balsamic glaze.

Or maybe I'll just eat my can of sausages while I do something else. Obviously, I am conflicted at the moment.

This would happen right after I sell my smoker. I just got a dozen racks of Creekstone Spare ribs too. Maybe I can figure out something on the Santa Maria.

Cook and take pics before you sell it! There is nothing that says you have to cook it the same week.

ETA: Or did you mean you’ve already sold the smoker?

Sold it a couple of weeks ago. Have never done a "challenge" here, other boards I thought it was usually something that had to be cooked during the challenge.

Can the ribs still have the loin attached?

Is it still a rib? Here is where my ignorance will show. I know there are pork spare ribs and baby back ribs, and country style and St. Louis style. Is what you’re talking about one of those?

That's just a really thick porkchop?

While that looks fabulous, I’m not sure it qualifies.

Or just a very generous rack of baby backs?

If country style ribs qualify, I feel that should as well

I'll stick to the ribs. I was only trying to push the envelope a little.

I think everyone should cook whatever they want. The voters can determine if it qualifies...

I see you like a rib with some meat on the bone.
