In nyc with the family. Looking for food reccomendations. Of course they want pizza. But any suggestions will help. Someone mentioned lucy's. No idea what that is.

Rubirosa.... Excellent Italian restaurant with amazing pizza, it's in or around the east village.

there's a thread like 5 down
if they want pizza, do artichoke on the highline. 10th ave and around like 17th street. can't remember the exact cross street. may have to wait a few for a table, but it's well worth it.
eta: pizza suprema near penn station as well.

Johns pizzeria nears Times Square. My wife worked at E&Y not far from there and we hit it up every time we visit. Architecture alone is worth the visit....pizza is great too.

Do not go to that 99 cent pizza jernt at 3rd and 43

I like John's Pizza on Bleecker Street.. Actually Bleecker St. has a lot of good places to check out. Macdougal runs off of Bleecker. There are also several good International style places to check out on Macdougal St.

John's on Bleeker for a whole pie.
For a quick lunch/slice place, Joe's, where Bleeker meets 6th Ave. I think there's a Joe's around Union Square as well.

My favorite pizza joint in all of New York is on bleecker st... But it's not johns.
I think bleecker st pizza offers the best slice in all of NY.
Also recommend getting some dumplings at Prosperity dumpling in china town.... You can get a full meal for like $4
Eataly is amazing and is unlike any place I've ever been.
Best steak I've had in NYC (and one of the best anywhere) was del friscos. I know it's a chain but the food is outstanding and the location around 51st is beautiful.
People will recommend Peter Lugers but keep in mind the only cut they serve is porterhouse. The Luger sauce is great but I'd be really hesitant to recommend going there unless u love porterhouse

Luger's used to serve only porterhouse but they also now offer a rib steak. Still not a vast choice compared to many but what they do, they do well.
I prefer Kean's overall for a classic NYC steakhouse.
That said, if you do go to Luger's - get the porterhouse.

One more recommendation. On Monday I went to Trump Grill at Trump Tower (5th Ave btwn 56th and 57th) and had one of the best burgers I've ever had. And it was reasonable priced, for New York. $10 and sides like cheese, mushrooms and grilled onions are a buck extra. The alcohol is expensive but the food is reasonably priced and very good. If you want to take in the Trump world, it's an exciting place to go.

Any recs for little italy?
Posted on 5/22/16 at 8:56 pm to MorbidTheClown
I can't remember any specific ones by name but we usually just google "trattoria" (the Italian word for restaurant) and see what has the best reviews. Honestly, the line bw a solid place and a fine dining place is pretty small when it comes to Italian food.
And maybe other people might have a specific name but if you have the time, go to queens for the dominican and Ethiopian food. My wife spent time there and said its the only place in the U.S. that you can get really quality dishes that aren't cooked in someone's home.

You'll find better Italian elsewhere in the city. If you feel you must try the area once, go to Rubirosa. It's best to make a reservation. Split a minimally topped thin crust pizza, some arancini and whatever parm appeals to your group.

quote:Yes. Lombardi's Pizza is very good. Also, one of my favorite French restaurants in town is near there - Balthazar. After a few glasses of wine you will think you are in Paris.

If you want the "Little Italy" vibe, Rubirosa or Lombardi's are probably your best bet.
Prince St Pizza or Pasquale Jones is my fav in the area but for what you want, stick to Rubi/Lombardis.
