Heading to NYC tomorrow night, so here’s what I’m looking for:
1. Best pizza place (eating it Saturday afternoon)
2. Rooftop or cocktail bar to take girlfriend (Sat. night)
3. Dinner places (Friday), it can be steak, Italian, or just your best “must try” place (eg girl and the goat was a great rec. for Chicago on here)
4. Anything else

Wife and I went to NYC a few weeks back and used this boards rec's.
Grammercy Tavern was my favorite place to eat. The food and drinks were amazing. This place is a must. $$$
Cosme, tappas style with Mexican influence. Good food, good atmosphere. $$$$
Sophia's of Little Italy, pretty good italian, we enjoyed the food there, but I expected more. $$$
My favorite place were the speakeasys Attaboy and Back Room. Look them up, worth it.

Excellent, just what I was looking for!

If you're looking for a traditional, old New York style bar with great atmosphere to have a glass of wine and bistro fare.. check out The Bar Room Midtown, on East 60th Street.

Le Coucou is one of the best meals I've ever had. Even better than Girl and the Goat.
Not sure if you can get in last minute, but definitely worth checking into.
Le Coucou
J mentioned Cosme and Gramercy Tavern, I second those recommendations as well. Both excellent meals.
For drinks, look at Dead Rabbit

Was in NYC last weekend; hit Gramercy Tavern twice; it's my favorite restaurant in NYC; get there when it opens or be prepared to wait a while; sit at the bar; the burger is life changing.

Last time I was there I enjoyed Beauty and Essex in LES.
As for pizza places, there are so many good ones. I may suggest walking around the West Village. Did that as a way to walk around and try Bleecker St Pizza and John's of Bleecker. I grabbed some Tacos at Chelsea Market, then walked down to West Village on the High Line.

If you don't mind spending $$$, Eleven Madison Park is fantastic..... My favorite pizza place is John's near Times Square. The pizza is delicious and the building was an old church that still looks like a church.

Dropped from #1 in the world in 2017 all the way to #4 in 2018.
Place is turning into a real shite hole.

Also, the OP is leaving for NY tomorrow. About a 0% chance he'd be able to get in.

Nice. I tried Le coucou back in September on Abita’s recommendation and it was awesome to me.

Joe's Pizza on Carmine Street.
Cool bars in the Wall St. area include The Dead Rabbit (mentioned above) and Fraunces Tavern.
Had a good lunch at Fraunces, which is where George Washington said farewell to his officers after the last of the Brits sailed out of NYC in 1783.
At The Dead Rabbit I had a nice chat with a pretty blonde bartender named Brook from Alabama. Sweet girl.

I went a few weeks back
1. Roberta’s in Brooklyn
2. There’s so many, we went to 230 Fifth. Here’s a good list to pick from depending on your location LINK
3. Carbone (Italian) or Bombay Bread Bar (Indian)
Have a good time

For Pizza try Roberta's in Brooklyn or Prince's.
Best bar in New York is The Dead Rabbit in my opinion.
As far as anything else, go dumplings in China Town. Joe's Shanghai, Vanessa's, The Dumpling House and so on. Make sure to try soup dumplings. Bubby's for breakfast in Soho.

Manhattan only? Up for traveling to Brooklyn, for example?

1. Best pizza place (eating it Saturday afternoon)
Two favorite spots in Manhattan are NY Pizza Suprema and Joe & Pat's.
My favorite two in Brooklyn are Vinnie's (Williamsburg) and Lucali's (Carroll Gardens). Joe's is good, too. My dad lives in Williamsburg, so I'll, typically, go to Vinnie's and Joe's. Roberta's is, probably, most-popular.

2. Rooftop or cocktail bar to take girlfriend (Sat. night)
In terms of view, Top of the Standard has to be one of the most-popular in Manhattan. Employees Only continues to put out great cocktails despite the crowd. Couple other favorites are Dante and Existing Conditions in Greenwich Village.
In Brooklyn, I love going to Maison Premiere. Top-notch cocktails and incredible oyster selection. Westlight makes solid drinks and has nice views of Manhattan. Otherwise, Fresh Kills Bar and OTB are great options.

For Italian, I can't recommend Bamonte's and Lilia enough. They're a short walk from the Bedford or Metropolitan L train station.
Peter Luger is, of course, popular, but I'd go-ahead and say you should check out St. Anselm for steak.

4. Anything else
Guess it depends what you're looking for. I'm into craft beer and there's plenty to offer in Brooklyn. Other Half is in an odd area, but I take the G train and it's pretty easy. Grimm and KCBC are near one another. Greenpoint is OK. LIC Beer Project is easy to get to if you're in Brooklyn or Midtown. SingleCut and Finback are not easy to get to unless you Lyft/Uber/taxi.
My favorite craft beer bars are Blind Tiger, Mugs Alehouse, and Jeffrey Craft Beer & Bites.

Print in Hells Kitchen - 11th Ave. & 48th. Very good restaurant and hotel has a good rooftop bar. Indoor & outdoor seating. Great views of Manhattan from this location.
