Native born nola foodies have a reason and inalienable right to talk down to non natives about food

Problem comes when the transplant nola residents try to pretend that they are from nola and start criticizing

That just makes them and native nola peep look bad

There aren't a whole lot of dishes or types of food in general which ordinary people are eating that aren't centered around "basic" ingredients.

I lose respect for Nola everytime I ask if a restaurants jambalaya and/or gumbo have tomatoes and get an affimitive response.

The city has a long way to go in trying to cook food not native to them.

I disagree.

I hate the ones that criticize the long running institutions that have made the NOLA food scene what it is today.

Wow. You are the worst food critic and a miserable person in general if you feel you or anyone has a right to talk down to someone bc if an opinion.

You are the reason people have a negative opinion about food snobs.

First, I was just poking a little fun.
Second, I graduated from LSU, have one child who did also and have another one there now.
Third, if money spent has anything to give one a "say" the $150,000 I've spent there would give me a say.
Fourth, I was just poking a little fun.

Probably. Not sure why this is relevant though. Only thing I said about hate was Pollack. Because he's a douchebag.

Why are you trying to order jambalaya from a restaurant?
And most of the good gumbo in New Orleans restaurants don't have tomatoe.
Sounds like you like eating at the tourist traps around bourbon a little too much.

My point is you listed Saints fans, LSU fans, NOLA foodies has butthurt people with chips on their shoulders. Well know fricking shite, you are on a Louisiana msg board with boards dedicated to LSU sports, Saints, and food. Of course you are going to get people who are passionate about these topics.

I guess then the better question would be why is it on the menu

Because the world is full of people who think NOLA = cajun food. Got to cater to your customer base. A Pub sells Budweiser for a reason you know. Those Bud customers are the ones that keep the doors open 24 hrs a day.

So why not serve cajun food? Why they gotta junk it up with tomatoes?

Same goes for fricking up crabcakes by putting spice all up in the cake rather than a proper spicy topping.

I really don't like that idea either.
I can't stand trying to give restaurant advice when my friends and business associates come to town and the first thing they ask about is jambalaya and fried aligator.

It's not a bad thing I guess and I appreciate anyone who visits new orleans and spends money, it just hard explaining that the top 50 restaurants in the city don't have that "fake cajun" stuff on the menu.
