btw, the place in question with the tomatoes in gumbo and jambalaya is Dick and Jenny's. No clue how touristy that place is.

Not really.

The tomato in the jambalaya thing is a lot like the seasoning the outside of the the crawfish thing. There are different methods and variations. I prefer the cajun version of jambalaya to the creole city version. It's just what I'm used to. Doesn't mean I wouldn't eat a tomato version if someone made it tasty, just wouldn't be my method.

Have you ever had the gumbo at Cochon ?

Have not, gumbo is one of those things that I seldom order when dining out. Guess it is one of those nostalgic meals that never equate to the version made at home.

Well duh! Saints fans are still talking about Katrina and a Super Bowl that is getting to be old history. LSU fans, well I love us, and I spend a buttload of money there, but we are a bit wacky.

Why are you avoiding the "poking fun" part of my message.

Of course you are going to get people who are passionate about these topics.

I agree. Sometimes it goes from passionate to defensiveness.

Look, there is no one who loves and supports Louisiana as a relative outsider than I. I am proud that my kids have attended LSU even though it has cost me a LOT of money.

Meh Katrina is one of those things we tired of hearing about. Talking about that Super Bowl will NEVER get old.

If anything Bounty Gate would be something we are still crying about. Still some what current considering what's going on with Goodell right now. And the fact that the draft picks that got taken away could have been a player that can play CB.

There are some really good gumbo in New Orleans that doesn't have tomatoes in it. I'm from New Orleans and never cook with tomatoes in my gumbo. None of my family cook with tomatoes here either.

I've ran into a lot of people on this site that think all New Orleans gumbo has tomatoes in it.

He's in deep crap. The whole NFL is, because of him. But at the same time, he may just be the "boy" for the owners.

Once again you act as if NOLA is not part of Louisiana and has never been influenced by the cajun heritage of the state.

Slightly influenced. Yes. But they sure market themselves like they are the Cajun capital of the world. As if Nola ppl run crab traps for a living and speak French.

Leeville seafood is one of the poorest excuses for a seafood restaurant in existence. You could catch a fish out their back door but the fish on the menu is freakin catfish. Sometimes crappy flounder if you are lucky. Place is a joke.

Any critic of NOLA food that includes Leeville is a freakin moron. That's like comparing food in Lafayette and calling it Baton Rouge. Same length of a drive.
