Not arguing over who is the best chef. But who has the most credibility/pull if opening a new restaurant, and attaching their name to it. I would assume Emeril, Besh, and Link would be top three.

Besh knows how to handle his staff. He’s got to be #1.

Besh probably dropped about 1000 places last year. The head salad cook from Commanders might have a better shot at a named concept these days

Could probably add Susan Spicer to that list

Second tier could include some other names like Phillip Lopez, Tory McPhail, Nathanial Zimet, Adolfo Garcia.

I'm a little bit out of the loop since I haven't lived there in a while.

Are you talking within the industry or general public?

The number of people who know of Emeril has to be 100 to 1 of the other 2 combined.

As the opinion of locals or national? Some names like Alon Shaya might carry more weight with locals than Emeril, but nationally Emeril would greatly outweigh Alon.

Chef rob is goat

My nod goes to link. He’s a Cajun and seems to have that Laissez-faire lifestyle.

Shaya probabaly would get asses in the seats.

Devillier might.

Emeril just opened a place in the last year or so and the recpetion has been mixed.

Kristen Essig & Michael Stoltzfus are set to open there new place before long I believe. Will be a fun one to watch. Sounds like they are doing what Essig wanted to do at Cavan.

Link is my favorite as far as the NOLA celebrity chefs go. I like his concepts and he just gives off that whole cool as shite vibe.

Gotta assume Nina Compton is going to see some (more) love and acclaim now. Michael Stoltzfus is one who if his name was attached to a project I'd make it a must visit.

How are Justin Devillier's places doing? Obviously LPG is great, but what about Balise? I only went once, but it was enjoyable.

Phillip Lopez

LOL. How many places has he had to close or sell because of financial issues in the past 9 months? The Roots, part and parcel, petit lion...anything else??

Link is definitely up there contrary to Front’s comment. All of his restaurants are highly successful and well known. He has 3 cookbooks.

I don’t know where Besh stands. I haven’t read anything about him losing business from the fallout. Out of towners probably know nothing. Opening a new restaurant in New Orleans could be another story. Hard to say.

Nina Compton is obviously up there. Her second restaurant is new, but getting good press. Her Beard award will be helpful.

Meril isn’t on my bucket list right now though I’ve read and heard some good things.

I’ve wondered about Tory McPhail opening another place.

I also wonder how the new Gabrielle will do. I really enjoyed it.
