Courtyard is a brewpub. Essentially a bar. You expect higher prices in a bar. Paying a premium to go pick up a 4 pack from Broussard is silly, especially if you have no clue if this will be another Parish "yeast change" or if it will taste good.

The only thing consistent in the IPA front Parish has put out, is Ghost.

Not sure that frickstick will understand what you are saying.

Not sure what your problem is. I know if i pick up jucifer or holy roller, it will not vary that much. If i pick up bloom, opus vert, or a ddh envie, i don't know what i will get. OPus and bloom have been massive disappointments. I did enjoy the latest ddh strata, but the previous DDH, just like this bloom, was severely lacking hop aroma and flavor. Just because it's murky doesn't mean it's good. Parish isn't what they used to be.

They are a little larger than a homebrew. Granted i haven't had their beer, and i understand their is a big transition from HB to brewery, but i have confidence they will be a good brewery. Smaller guys usually are.

Yeah, but they are better than Parish.

There isn't a point. You asked who is better. I gave you a list.

I would LOVE for Parish to be as good as they used to be. I would LOVE for Envie to taste good again. But, they've consistently made Envie just meh. They are trying to bring that same meh consistency to Nova Vert and Bloom. Ghost is the only thing they are consistent with, on the IPA front.

My problem, is i hate giving Parish "a shot" with new releases of bloom or nova and being disappointed every time. I hate grabbing an Envie in hopes of it tasting like it did pre-can release.

Now i can solve all of this like i do now, and just sparingly buy their shite and bitch about it on the internet. It's a form of therapy.

Hell, maybe my taste buds are the problem.

Yep. It was very good originally. Hopefully it gets back to that

At least Ghost is now very consistent and can bought anytime. It’s really hard to beat fresh ghost imo

Reve is the best distro'd stout in the state, IMO.

However, Bloom and Opus Nova have regressed so much it's unbelievable. They're all starting to taste the same so I haven't purchased much Parish in the past year or so.

Andrew needs to innovate again. I only ever really look for Ghost it Reve these days. I enjoy the Sips series, too, but they don't distribute it.

Parish's model is outdated and getting stale, imo

I’m not hearing anyone not in agreement that Parish has gone downhill. I’m assuming Andrew could give a shite as they rake in sales with expanding into Htown and along the Gulf Coast.

This Turkey and the Wolf arse boi marketing makes it much worse.

Wait, what?

Bloom is the best single IPA Parish makes. It's goddamn delicious. I don't even bother with any of these DDH renditions of brewery only beers, when I can find Bloom (and Ghost) at $12 a 4-pack all day long. Opus or Nova or whatever it is now was as good this winter as it's ever been.

The latest from Burial....

quote:

Life sure has a sick sense of humor, doesn’t it?
__
4 years ago we adorned the first Surf Wax story with some choppy hack work on quotes from a favorite flick. In that moment, it was a hilarious way to recognize our time on this earth. Bodhi absorbed in the energy, Johnny seeking the source.
__
It’s been 20 years since I first saw that parody of humanity, rife with some of the worst, and greatest lines of all time. And sometimes those damn utterances are shared over a bounty of imbibes with the brethren. Enter @alvaradostreetbrewery.
__
I’m unsure what we like about the Monterey gang the most. We’ve shared rivers and mountaintops, along the river of refreshment and atop the mystic sky. But when talk of the Break comes up, this is all admiration. So we had to bring the 50 Year Storm to life.
__
Ain’t it Wild. A memorial to the man they call the Bodhisattva, the modern savage, the never-conflicted soul of pure adrenaline. A take on modern tiki cocktails, this DIPA walks the wire of tart and sweet, presenting a fruit acidity along with smooth malt sweetness and heady hop bouquets.
__
Aged with Key Lime, Passionfruit and Pomegranate, this beer was then double dry-hopped with Bell’s Beach neighbors, Galaxy, Enigma and Vic Secret. We then topped it off with freshly zested orange peel. Aromas of Passionfruit liqueur, citrus zest and jammy and spicy tropical fruit are followed by tropical mango, Rainier cherry and unmistakable key lime flavors.
__
It’s the ultimate rush. There’s nothing that comes close to it. Just paddling out will be a total commitment. But if you want the ultimate, you’ll have to be willing.
__
Release 6/14. Small batch. AVL and @burialdtr.

I can picture the tattoo'd neckbeard in his favorite skinny jeans writing it now...

I’m sure his bank account disagrees, if you don’t like it, don’t buy their beer or follow what they are doing, but some people don’t let craft beer control their life like you do.

I honestly don’t think their beers (or at least the ones I like) have gone downhill, but I’m sure not buying these $14 per four pack of 5% pale ales either. That’s nonsense.

Ghost and Reve. Both are delicious and amongst my absolute favorites of those styles.

Bloom has a nice pool beer flavor (meaning watered down too), but I’m not paying what Parish/distributors/stores are charging for it.

Pretty sure he meant that it makes the change in quality of beer worse by being obnoxious about the beer. I only really saw 1 post about the bank account. I'm glad he's making money. I just wish they'd make Bloom and NV great again.

quote:

if you don’t like it, don’t buy their beer

Sadly, this is where i'm at. I do still buy it in hopes of the beers getting better. Just don't like buying a 4 pack for $12-16 to find out that the beer still has some problems with it.

quote:

Listen tough guy. We get it, you want to pick an internet fight with someone. Good for you. I didn't pick up, from anyone here, that specifically, beer is controlling their lives.

The main tenants of this thread is A) some of parish's IPA offerings aren't what they used to be, and majority of posters don't care for it and B) the overly poetic blurbs about beer (not just Parish) are rather silly.

The first Bloom batches were great. It currently tastes nothing like those batches.
