The first Bloom batches were great. It currently tastes nothing like those batches.

Yes, it's even better now.

You really think that I would take advice from you?

No one here is like that, but we do like our craft beer. Not sure what the problem is here. Your hobby seems to be to harass me, maybe you need to take your own advice.

Bloom 2019 has an average rating of 4.39 on Untappd. Who are all these people that don't like it? I get that personal preference plays a role here, but these blanket statements that Bloom is not good is ridiculous. For me, I struggle to name any other single IPAs from Louisiana breweries that are distro'd that I prefer to Bloom. Your mileage may vary.

Most of the people in this thread...

Pretty sure, when discussing beer, you have to acknowledge that taste is subjective, and that those that do not care for bloom, like myself, is due to their preference. No need for disclaimers. (Not a shot at you, i just hate having to preface my statements with a silly disclaimer about taste when it comes to food and drink)

If i walk into calandro's right now, i wouldn't buy bloom. If i wanted an IPA i'd probably pick up Jucifer or Holy Roller because i haven't had it in a long time. Honestly, i'll go there today or tomorrow and probably pick up some radical rye PA and/or some tin roof voodoo. Haven't had radical rye in a few months, but last time i did, i loved the up front taste. Hell, i'll probably pick up another DDH strata, as i've been enjoying that beer (as i've mentioned earlier). I've been tasting loads of grapefruit on the first few sips.

You are saying bloom is the best single IPA, per your preference. I don't doubt you think that way. You aren't lesser or greater a person because of that. I'm saying that Bloom isn't what i first loved about the beer. I'm saying, i don't pick up any noticeable hop aroma or flavor. I have 2 or 3 left in the fridge, and i'll crack another open tonight just to confirm, but i have not liked bloom. I'm not saying it's jackamo levels bad. I'm not saying it's flat out terrible. I'm saying, i perceive it has changed, and not for the better. I post about it because i want to know if it's just me, or if others feel the same about it. It appears, that some are in agreement with me.

But my biggest issue with Parish is with Envie, and i would like your opinion on Envie. Do you feel Envie has gotten better/worse/stayed the same? Regular Envie used to be a staple in the fridge, but really since the can rollout, it has been replaced.

Honestly, I can't tell you the last time I had an Envie. I bought the DDH Strata Envie which I thought was OK, but not worth another 4-pack. So basically, what you think about Bloom, I think about the DDH Strata Envie. As far as regular Envie, I think Voodoo is better, so I grab that instead. The last Envie I had was probably in a restaurant when it was the best beer available.

And i didn't care for DDH Strata with the first bottle. Took some time to open up.

That is the problem i'm perceiving with Bloom. I don't get aroma/flavor, like i don't get aroma/flavor with Envie. And i've mentioned this many times, but i find that i get a bit of a carbonic bite. But that could be from something else.

Something i noticed when i drank bloom a few days ago...i've brewed some NEIPA's, and have only really gotten right the last batch i made. And the key to that, IMO, was the closed transfer. I found that my ipa's were lacking aroma/flavor, despite the late hop additions. So when i drank Bloom, that's immediately what i thought of. That they let in too much oxygen when packaging. And maybe that's the issue with Envie. But again, you like bloom and don't care for Envie. I don't like Bloom nor Envie.

I’m having 5/21 bloom right now. Gotta agree with B on this one. It’s incredible. Really reminds me of what made original ghost so special.

I have noticed you complain about carbonation issues a lot. Maybe it’s just something you are sensitive to. This is perfect IMO. The only parish carb issues I ever noticed was an envie can. Which was like drinking seltzer.

I wonder what the description would be if Andrew bottled one of his own farts and sold it for $12

So I just cracked one, 5/21, and I just don’t see it. I don’t like it. I get lingering bitterness on the sides of my tongue, barely any hop nose, slightly malty, a bit chewy, and little to no hop flavor. I think it’s a bad offering from Parish, IMO.

And it’s not the carbonic bite I thought I was picking up, it’s the bitterness on the side of the tongue.

I was out of town when Bloom was released but picked some up last weekend and I think it’s already starting to turn. Malt is not balanced and a bad bitter taste.

Bottles need togo.

Either way, DDH Cabana Baw is a want.

Gilla is on 1.5 BBl system for now. We will be increasing to a 7bbl shortly after opening if plans go well.
